Default Radar Detectors....(blown speaker)

took my car to the shop for a break bleed, got my car back with a blown speaker in my cobra radar dector.

Anyone ever replaced a blown speaker in their radar detector? Can't just solder the wires back since the speaker actually clips into the mainboard using a plastic clip.

I will send someone a prize if you find somewhere on the net that sells replacable speakers for cobra radar detectors LOL, i've been tinkering with this pile of junk for a few weeks.

I don't know how the cobra works, but I had an escort that blew a speaker. I don't know if you have a head phone or audio out plug on the cobra or not, the escort did. I ended up soldering a tiny speaker from an ear-bud to the audio out plug that it had. It wasn't as loud as before but it worked for over 2 years before it finally gave up the ghost.

It has a headphone jack symbol on it, but no headphones fit in it, i was going to try to hardwire it to a rear/center speaker on the late 4th gen models?

(96 had a rear sub speaker between the back seats right?)

anyway...as screwed up as that sounds, i was gonna do that LOL

hey man its easy job i had to do it with my cobra radar detector. call cobra and order a new speaker for ur model detector and they send it within 3 days. its like 4 to 5 bucks. once its sent to u just open up ur detector with a cpu screwdriver and it pops right in no sodering or wire cutting. thats the good news it takes like 5 min.

Yea, i just e-mailed them tonight, going to call tomorrow. I already have the thing popped open and saw how easy it would be, if I could just find the speaker, lol.

I might just buy 2 for the future....lol.

thanks guys~

note* sorry to bring up a radar detector thread that really has no sense being here, but radar detector forums seem to be out of date since 2004 lol.

I got the problem solved if cobra responds back, thanks~
