Burning Oil
My car has been buring oil bad in the past couple months, and I did a compression test on it and got 210 across the board. Now what could be the problems? Bad valves, headgasket?
I would also say Valve stem seals. You can watch your exhaust to see if you get blue smoke when you throttle the engine. If it was rings you would see alot of smoke all the time and your compression would be low. Its also cheaper to do the valve stem seals first.
if you see smoke only when giving it throttle, id say its the oil control rings...these are the middle rings and are different than the compression rings. if it were the valve stem seals, youd see blue smoke only when you first started the car, since the oil leaked through the seals and fell in the comb.chamber while the car was off
