should it be replaced on a high milage r, if so what is the part location or please show diagram. thanks

There is no service that calls it out, but if you have a few extra bucks give the prothane or energy suspension one a try. They are relatively inexpensive, easy to install.

I use the energy suspension one now along with their engine mount inserts and the shifter feels more precise and "crisper".
