when i first got the car i ran it at the track and ran it 14.8 bone stock. i live in oklahoma and the temps were most likely 95+. i dont remember what my 60ft were but with that trap speed you should be running a bit quicker if im not mistaken.

hope that helps out some? ill see if i can find my time slips later on if i still have em

don't got my time slips in front of me but practice is key. my first time out I ran a 15.5 but the second time I improved down to a 14.7. just give it a few tries and it will get better.

Yeah dude, that's wicked slow for a Type-R. How was your driving? Pretty good?

... I hit 14.3 at 96.2MPH with a burnt clutch, minor bolt ons, 205/50/15 Falken Azenis, full weight with a 220lb driver. New clutch is installed, and I'm shooting for high 13s. Even with my burnt clutch I was cutting 2.2/2.1 60fts.

"Type-R! WOOOO!" Haha, listen closely around 00:27 into the video.

^ Better than that. You'll hit 12s with some driving.

With slicks, I'm sure my car would get to some 13.6s, and I bet I only have around 180whp+/-.

After I get a slightly less harsh disc in the car, I'm going to the track on street tires again... I really don't want to mess up my transmission with my unsprung 6-puck.

I was launching at 4,500RPM with my burnt clutch and cutting 2.1/2.2 60fts. I'm going to the track next week, I'll be launching at 6,000RPM (Launching in VTEC is a good idea, so you don't have to wait for power in first gear... Watch my video posted above, watch how long it takes me to get into some usable power) and feathering the gas/clutch to keep from lighting the tires, WOT shifting 3rd and 4th, and I'm pretty certain I'll get a high 13... We'll see though.

Lauching a mid-engine RWD car, as opposed to FWD... Is night and day, haha. All of my cars have either been FWD or AWD, so I'm used to that.

Your ET (trap time) will be determined by the 60' marker. What I mean is the faster (lower like 2.1-2.0) 60' will put your down the quarter WAY faster. Try launching around 6k again, but feather it there. The trick is to keep the RPM's up in Vtec so that when you come off the line, your already going with a full head of steam!

Also, PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. That's the only way your going to get any better.

I think the biggest mistake people make when they first go out to the drag strip is focusing and concentrating tooooo much on the tach/guages.

Yuo should know your car by now, and where it is at. 4000-5000k launches are good enough, stop looking at the guages and FEEEEL the car out. Can you feel it almost engaging? GOOD. slowly feather and let it while on the clutch feathering it and a nice solid launch like that should put you in your seat. I bet you will smell your clutch alot while practicing .. but id rather ride my clutch out, then dump it at 6000k rpms and bust all the bearings in my transmission..

When you feel the car will catch traction, let go completelty of it and run threw the gears as quick as you can

WHEEL SPIN= lost time...

1/4 mile racing is all about the launch, iv seen 13 second cars run mid 14s because of it.

Bump your rear tires to 40PSI, and lower your fronts to 24-25.

drag racing is gay anyway.

I disagree... Paying attention to your gauges is crucial. Sure you can feel your RPM if you know your car, but you can't feel oil pressure, you can't feel EGTs, you can't feel AFR... It's important to pay attention to these. I can shift with my eyes closed, and I can drive in a straight line... So I can pay attention to my gauges while shifting and driving in a straight line, it's not hard.

Launching at 6,000RPM is a good idea, because you're launching into optimal power (On VTEC engines at least). Like I said, watch the video I posted above, and watch how long it takes for me to get into some power in first gear, you can literally see me get put back in the seat a bit, and the wall start to fly by when I hit 5,800RPM. If I was able to, I would have launched at 6,000RPM, so I was in that power off the line.

Dumping the clutch at 6,000RPM won't "bust" all the bearings either... Depending on your setup, you'll probably just spin.

Haha, I've seen "12 second 350Z"s run 14s at the last track day... Supercharged, 350whp 350Zs running 14.3s, that's something to laugh at.

^^

Hehe, don't get me wrong bro. I enjoy all types of driving, maybe the word 'GAY' was a little too much Used to drag race alot infact!

Regarding the guages and stuff, im just talking about the launching. I guess it varies with other people, when i began, i used to just stare at the guages when launching even and it would mess me up bad.. when I learned to to just feel out the car at launch, i did MUCH MUCH beter.. Of COURSE i stared at the guages then to see where im exactly at and when to change gears at optimum RPM.

I went from 15.3's to 14.7's with a stock R aswell once.

DRIVE EM HARD BOYS ! :D

-erik .. downloadin your video right now GO FIGHT, damn dialup...
