Another getting her back story....
Wow.... while this one's not as interesting as the one Casey told about here, I wanted to tell the story of how I got my baby back.
I originally bought my 98 R in 2001 from a local Acura dealer, and it was the car I always wanted. 5 long years of payments later, she was all mine. I had my R paid for and stored away in the garage where she belonged. I couldn't have been happier!
Well, no sooner do I get the car paid off, that it happens I lose a significant amount of my income at the job. Bills piled up as my wife and I scrambled to keep afloat. I had considered selling my R a couple of times in order to get out of our situation, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Well finally, things get to the point that I could no longer deal with the strain of being broke and the decision was made to sell my baby. I placed the ad on honda-tech, and within the week, my car was gone. But once I got to know the new owner a little bit, I knew that my car had gone to the best person I could have found, and it didn't feel quite so bad to let it go.
Fast forward to seven months down the road.... the money made from the sale of my car enabled us to get completely out from under our debt, which in turn boosted our credit scores significantly, which allowed us to refi the house into a 30 year fixed (ARM's blow big time....) and finally get everything back in order, good as new. The only thing missing was my car.
I began searching for a new R to purchase, but something just didn't feel right. I began to realize that I probably wouldn't be as happy with any car other than my old one. Silly I know, but I spent a lot of time with that car.
So, I went back to the guy I originally sold it too, hoping that he still had it, but not really believing that he would be at all interested in selling it back to me. After all, it had only been 7 months since he purchased it from me! Well, believe it or not, after some initial hesitation, he agreed to sell it back. I couldn't believe it at first, but suddenly, everything was right. My financial woes were behind me, my baby was coming back home, and at that point, nothing could have made me any happier.
The best part of the whole thing is, my R came back to me in BETTER condition than she left. After a much needed new windshield, and a trip to the paintless dent removal guy, she looks like a million bucks. The H-T member I sold it to took such good care of my baby for me, I don't think I could thank him enough.
And I know he'll be reading this thread, as he's been waiting for me to make it, but Blake, thanks again my friend, you certainly didn't have to do it.
So there it is. A getting her back story of a slightly different kind. Most are unfortunate, with all the stolen/recovery stories and whatnot, but this one is a good one, at least for me!
So here she is, #162 back at home!

EDIT - HOLY CRAP!! Post number #162! I promise that wasn't planned...

That's a great story. It reminds me of selling my first R (FBP- 00-0055) and the regret that went along with it. The decision to sell it seemed to make sense at the time because I was getting married.
So, after driving a pretty nice GS-T Eclipse that only went fast in a straight line for seven months, found a clean one-owner '97 in Wilmington and snatched it up.

Thanks! It has Apex'i world sport coilovers on it. They're getting a little worn out though, so some Tein's may be in the works soon.

how did you convince him to sell it back to ya?
how many miles on that car?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Well, I simply told him how much the car meant to me, and that I always hoped to be able to keep the car around long enough to pass it down to my kid someday. But I think he just knew what it meant to me.
Oh and car now has 78K on her.
