Default an '85 CRX HF rises from the grave...

So... back in 2002 I bought a 1985 CRX HF beater car for $100 so I could drive around while working on my old integra... then I joined the AF, so I parked it in the back yard early 2003.

Well, after 4 years of being back there while I was stationed in SC, I came home and decided that since the earth had claimed the old girl as her own... I decided I would uproot it today.

I think I'm going to put myself in for the "Most Gangster remedy for a broken torsion bar" award... All the 1st gen CRX'ers will appreciate what I did. ;-) btw, if you're curious as to how I made it able to turn with the spring on it, I used a throwout bearing and some weird circular piece of steel I found at Lowe's that I knew would work.

All the work was done in 2002. ;-)

Comments? ;-) I think it's hilarious

hahaha, I know, right? Let's get these brakes fixed and I'm sure it'll pass an inspection since the last one was done six years ago. hahaha.

believe it or not, all lights work (corners work, but aren't mounted, lol) horn works (once I find the nut for the steering wheel... anybody know what size/threads that is, btw? lol) and get the door hook so it will stay shut... oh. and fix EVERYTHING ELSE on the car. LMAO. I don't know much about carbs, but the secondary doesn't open on it for some reason. I bet if I get it to open it's worth another 5 horses! hahaha

I still think I'm in the competition for the coolest fix for a broken torsion bar ever. "Torsion bar broke? pfft. Who needs torsion bars anyways? Perfect time to convert it to spring suspension. Go get the welder and those civic coilovers." lmao

man that poor car why are you doing this ???? i wouldent drive the car with that spring strut combo up front the first gen tower is not made to support the load caused ,thats why they have a torsion bar lol

so do you plan to bring it back to life or ????? as for the secondary ,they only open at set rpm ,you can devac the carb ,but its a but of work lol

good luck with it ,if you were closer id take it off your hands

*starts dancing like Xzibit on the intro to pimp my ride*

Honestly I dunno what I'm gonna do to the car, I'm just gonna keep messing with it til I figure it out. Oh, and in the meantime, on THIS car specifically, I promise the tower is a better point for the stress than the nonexistant part the torsion bar was mounted on. lol. And it's pimp! ;-)

That car is ready for a GSR turbo swap and a full OBD1 harness conversion and a rollcage. hehehe.... Goodluck with it man I restored an 85 Si once and it was a lot of work. I welded an entire stopsign into the floor under/behind the driver's seat (road signs are plentiful in Maine as the locals all tear them down and throw them under bridges) It was a rustbucket from hell, $75 at the boneyard with a dent in the gastank that made it run out at 1/4 tank.

I don't see many of those crx's anymore.

I'm not seeing a gsr motor in it though. I'd do a 1.6 zc swap with itb's!

good luck with your project!

Thanks all... I dunno about the turbo gsr, but maybe a B-series... Hilltop Honda "H-A Salvage Yard) is maybe 3 hrs from me... I could always save up and buy a front clip cut at the windshiled of an LS teg and use gauges, ecu, harnesses, and all. Then just need mounts and mechanical parts. But who knows. we'll see what I decide to do with it. right now I'ma try to set it up on cinderblocks so I can crawl up under and decide what to do about the rear brake lines. the steel lines about 1/2-way down the car are shot. :-/ big puddle. :-(
