yea i hate that **** too. should invest in a clear bra. when i wash my car i usually do 1 coat of wax. but others usually do like 2-3 and thats how it blings so much. i'm still wondering what .COMplex does to keep his s/c'd nhbp so spotless. i hope he chimes in here.

What mitt are you using?
It's all about the technique and method you use to wash the car.
Always scrub/wash in straight lines. If you leave streaks in straight lines it'll be harder to see. Use the two bucket system also. One bucket has soap and water, the other just water. Rinse the mitt in the water bucket everytime you go to get more soap.
Never wipe your bare nasty harsh hands on the car, don't lean on the car either. How are you drying it?

Invest in a buffer, some compound, white foam pad, and black foam pad. 3M makes good compounds, get a rubbing compound then a finish glaze. If your car is black get a dark finish glaze, if you have a light color get the white finish glaze. There is a method to buffing in order to get rid of the swirl marks. First use your rubbing compound with the white foam pad (white foam is more abrasive and is used with compound), next step take off the white foam pad and put on the black foam pad, go over your car with the black foam pad and the same compound you used with the white foam (you just went from an abrasive white pad, to a soft black foam pad, knocking the swirls down in steps). After you do that, clean out your black foam pad (or purchase 2, sometimes they come in packs of 2), use the foam pad you just cleaned out or a new one, and go over your car with the finish glaze or "swirl mark remover". If you did this right, and know how to run a buffer, you shouldn't have any swirl marks and you shouldn't have burned through your clear

you can't keep black looking clean for more than an hour..

True, but IMO black is one of the best colors on a car, best looking clean, and most rewarding when painting or doing body work on. Just more work to keep up.

black is hard to keep up. but IMO its the nicest.
like snoop said.....gotta pay the cost to be the boss. lol
I take mine down to this place..... for 20 bucks, theyll do the dash, hand wash and vacume. For 30 bucks, theyll hand wash, hand wax, vacume, dash, and do the tires. the other good part is this place comes with a one week rain check during the rainy seasons. meaning if it rains, theyll redo it for free. im not sure what they offer in the summer, but i know its something tight. other than that, i make sure to buy good car soap, real foamy stuff, and i use a thick sponge that comes rapped in a cloth, **** is so soft, like a baby blanket. ummm, good shammy cloth too. no ****** house towel or cheap cloths....
oh, i carry one of those car dusters in the trunk. read the directions, go one direction only. I whip that out when i get chances. sometimes i feel like a dick cleaning my car when im out somewhere.
and i have a white civic.... EASY to keep up. doesn't compare to black in any way what so ever.

wash your car (preferably in the shade, and keep it wet), use wax as you dry (any brand), and occasionaly wipe it clean with a california car duster.... as long as you have a good coat of wax the car duster will work well. if you dont have a good coat of wax it sucks...
my car looks good all the time .... ive been doin that with my cars for years... never seemed to hurt the paint and its fairly easy upkeep.

I don't like the concept of the clearbra. You stick on some film all over your car, you can never really wash/wax your actual paint again, and who knows how hard it'd be to take off in a year or two after a couple of summers and all that heat melting the adhesive, that and its rather expensive and hard to find.
But hey, my white car gets dirty the same day I wash it almost. Don't feel too bad we taffy owners got it pretty bad too.

I hate it 2 now that the pollen season is here omfg its crazy i wash twice a week sometimes it stays clean looking for a couple of days due to the MEG gold class soap but if it rains etc it messes it all up taffy will hide dirt much better and 2 me always looks clean =/
yeah dude...i just fully detailed my car yesterday...took about 4 hours..but anways...its love bug season in god damn florida...and now i have bugs on my front end. :X but black is the cleanest when clean...but gets dirty wayy too fast.

and thats the whole entire reason i didn't get white. i really wanted white. my last car was white and it just brings the lines of the car out so nice. but when i went to honda to go buy a car, they had a white one and a red one next to it. both dirty but the red looked better dirty. so i was like **** it. im goin red.

I take it you haven't seen my paint up close? I've got quite a few swirlies, because nothing I do is good enough to prevent them... I just wash the car once or more a week with all Meguiars product.
