what a/c?
Anyone know what kind of a/c system in in the crx? I have a 91 crx hf and I wanted to get it re-charge because it's not blowing cold. Reason asking is because looked at a handbook and said if your a/c is R-12? or something I can't remeber right now, but re-charge for it is expensive because it's older modle and stuff for it would be hard to find so wanted to know. Thanks for any help if any.
you need to convert your ac to the new gas, check auto zone or sumthing like that, they have conversion kits, remember to empty your system of the old fluid before puting in new. i think the gas is called r-132 or somthing similiar
Go to Honda and ask for a retro fit kit. It's like $50 bucks. I just got one. All it is, isnew fittings for your fill hoses and PAG oil for the compressor. R-12 is around $60 bucks a pound where R-134a is $20. It'll save you cash later.
THANKS! that help. Well I don't know if I can handle the job, convert it..would it be illegal or something to touch/covert and handle the stuff as well? Cuz I know law where i'M at one can not re-charge his or her a/c or up to $25,000 fine!
Well I'll try to find a handle book on the a/c componants and stuff and see if I can tackle it but if not I'll check around places. But thanks guys and $60 buck! a pound!
I had a 95 civic and it was $160-80 ish?? don't remeber but at $60 bucks I'll probably be looking at in the high $200-$300!? No thanks I'll convert! anyways thanks guys.

If your system is empty it should only use 2 pounds of freon, but then there's also labor charges. I'm not sure how much that will run you though. It varies place to place. So does the charge of freon. That was just an example of my workplace. Also, they sell kits that you can use to charge your system at home. I know it's illegal to release freon into the environment, but I'm not sure on how the law works with charging a system. Your not releasing any of it.
