Default dohc zc in rt4wd, should i get the tranny also?

alrightl, i already know about hondacivicwagon.com but people dont respond there as quickly as they do there...

im hoping to get an rt4wd wagon for a summer project and throw a dohc zc in it, i know nothing about the 4wd system but i wanted to know if i should buy the tranny as well since its only 150$ more on hmotorsonline, will that tranny work with the 4wd system or should i just stick with the one thats in it already?

if you get a 4wd wagon you would need to keep your current tranny since it is 4wd. The one from Hmotors is for FWD/2wd only unless you plan on getting rid of the 4wd.

x2.........The 4WD is the function of the tranny that is in the car. The ZC will bolt right up.

nope...don't need the zc tranny, just motor... will just drop in but beware of the exhaust collector on the dohc zc, it will interfere with the 4wd drivetrain. these things never came with a dohc even in japan (don't quote me) but they did come with the sohc zc, and i believe you if you can track down a collector from a sohc that it will fit the dohc exhaust header/manifold and not get in the way of the drivetrain. most peeps figure out a way to modify the dohc collector, but it's not worth the time when you can get one of these things for like 30 or 40 bucks somewhere. quick question for anybody that would know; what motor upgrade will work in the 85-87 4wd wagon chassis? and still maintain the 4wd.....i thought there was an older zc motor from like a teg or something, anybody know? don't wanna steal your thread or nothin'......

the 86-89 Integra D16A1 and the 84-87 JDM 'browntop" DOHC ZCs will bolt into the 3g Civic chassis, but in order to use them, you have to use the Integra transmission - if you want to keep 4wd, you can't use the Integra transmission and the D16A1 or ZC engines will not bolt to the 3g Civic transmission - not even close
