07 Mugen Si hitting the states?!
I have no idea if this is a repost, but I got really excited when I found out 500 of these are actually going to hit the states. This is one of the closest thing we can get a hold on besides the 07 JDM Civic Type R.
"The "H" will be offering its first-ever Civic Si Sedan with aftermarket parts sourced from the holiest of holy JDM Honda tuners - Mugen. That's right, you will be able to walk into your Honda dealer and pick up a Mugen-equipped Civic Si sedan for less than $30K.
Give us a minute here... we still can't wrap our heads around that last sentence. Mugen - the Japan-based Honda tuner whose parts are track-proven, better than OEM-quality, uber-expensive and ultra-rare - will now be selling some of its wares through everyday U.S. Honda dealers?" - http://cars.ign.com/articles/744/744435p1.html

Back in the mid 80s you could buy Mugen parts at Honda dealers, but this is the first time you could get them already installed on the car from the factory.
This was announced months ago, but Ive never seen a date as to when the car will be available. The car, while cool, is hardly worth $30k and dont forget to throw in the dealer markups

I'm interested to see how this thing performs since it is so boldly strutting the Mugen badge. I really hope it's not just a gussied-up Civic with a $9k premium over the Si... Then again - pretty sure Mugen isn't real interested in putting their name on a piece of crap, so this might be more than we are expecting based on the descriptions thus far.
All that said, I agree this is likely just another ****-poor attempt to appease the 'Stupid Americans' with everything but a Type-R. I'm not sure if it's Honda NA or Honda Japan that is making these decisions, but somebody's got to face facts that R's are good for America and we want them right now.
I feel a little better. (not much)

Sorry, but $21,700 (roughly 250 over invoice) for a base model Mazdaspeed3 that will RUN CIRCLES around that thing is a far better investment.
This is just another insult to our inteligence an HOA's part.
CTR sedan or bust!!!

No more power than stock (doubt the exhaust does much), barely better than stock suspension...
Nah. My guess is a 5k markup.

Only the parts offered on the Mugen Si would be available through the dealerships if and when it happens.

Call me jaded, but that next best thing is pretty freakin far from the best thing.
I do hope for brisk sales of the Mugen Si. Hopefully it will lead to the actual best thing coming our way.
