Default si comes in last :x

http://www.motortrend.com/feat....html

My big question is...how in the world do they put the Mazdaspeed 3 in there over the RX-8?

they say they narrowed it down to the top 10 cars...

The Si handles very nice, but in the top 10? Same for MS3... s2000 I can believe.

I'm surprised the Civic is even "competing" with Porsche's, a Vette, Lotus, Evo, etc.

IMO, the only car worth comparing the Civic to is the MS3... the rest are basically out of its leauge(as outlined in the article )

I'd say we are still in a league with the Mini, and S2000. The Si does not handle as well as it but it's still decent. I have owned both.

Easy, it handles well and overpowers it HANDS down. The RX8 has a very linear power band like the S2K but just does not perform like it.

I noticed that the article says the Si has a peak lateral acceleration of 1.55g. I'm also aware that most of the cars in the review have less than 1.55g of peak lateral exceleration except for the GT3 and the Z06. Isn't the higher the peak lateral acceleration (g) the better the car's handling? I just finished reading an article about weight transfer and lateral force. From what I've read, lateral acceleration is the maximum amount of force a car can accelerate in a corner without tipping over. Can someone please elaborate on that and correct me if I'm wrong? Thanks.

Well, it would have handled better if they could have slapped better tires on their but I do agree w/ the writer, the Si does have a lot of body roll, even though the suspension is quite bumpy.

Also take notice that the tires they are using for the cars. They are using all stock tires.. The Michelin's that come on our cars aren't even Z rated, and they are going up against some of the best tires in the market like the Potenzas, Advans, and Pilot Sports.

The type of tire you are using makes a WORLD of difference.

Oh and that S2000 lap time is such rubbish. I know that car can do better than that.

when the 06 Si first came out, motor trend magazine (the issue in which i have in my possession, which also included the Si Vs GTI standoff) stated that the Si outhandled the C6 vette... so while most of those cars vastly outrun the Si, handling is on par.

...pretty impressive considering the price difference in cars

rx8 is such a piece of shi+ imo...

MS3 is a MUCH better car based on the small time I've spent in each.

Look at the class it's in. I'm not surprised at all.

Sorry, but I can't agree with you entirely. If you are talking about power and speed, then yeah RX8 is underpowered comparing to the MS3. However when it comes to handling, MOST DEFINITELY RX8 > MS3.

If I have to choose between the MS3 and the RX8, I'll pick the RX8 w/o any doubts. That's just my .02.

I can't believe this article fully. They knock the Z06. If that car is so bad why is it the platform winning all the GT1 series championships for the last few years (before that was the Viper)?

And why would anyone seriously pit a 22K Civic against cars 2-5+ times that amount?

Fair enough. I didn't do any *hard* driving in either, but I will say that the rx8 felt uncomfortable to drive and felt like it was about to explode (and did not feel very quick at all, even compared to my si). The si feels at home high in high RPMS, the rx8 feels pained all the way across the band.

I get it, I own one. It's a great bang for the buck, especially at my age.

But driving a car with real wide tires, 500hp, and essentially no body roll is a whole different ball game.

Then again, this is why I don't read Motor Trend for track reviews. They hate on everything less than an Enzo.

The mini in that test is like 40G. Motor trend sucks anyway.
