Default Going from stock to super tuned...This novice needs 'know-it-all' advice

I have a 1996 Honda Accord LX stock, I've always been interested in cars and performance upgrades, but never had a clue as to where to start. Basically I'm looking for advice on a good engine setup to add anywhere from 50hp to 150hp, by engine setup I mean what to add, replace, and/or upgrade. Honesltly I like the gas mileage my stock 4 cylinder provides, and I'm also wondering if I can upgrade gas mileage along with the engine, or is it gonna be an either or situation. Being a beginner I'm all ears so throw it at me if you have an input, and I'll take into deep consideration.

well for your hp goals i dont know of anything that will give you extra gas mileage. But for hp you might want to look into an engine swap or possibly forced induction.

If you are looking to gain extra mileage and a little bit of extra hp i would probaby say the basic bolt on (intake, header, exhaust)

intake, header and exhaust is your best bet to get good mileage. Of course there is weight reduction.

If you want instant things, you might want to swap for a H22 and a get intake header and exhaust. You get around 55-60hp than your current engine and about same gas mileage??? and if you get intake header and exhaust, you'll add around IDK 20hp?(guessing) So yea.

Your best/cheapest bet is to go with a basic bolt-on setup of Intake, exhaust, header. That might net you 10-15hp maybe, depending on the condition of the rest of engine.
An engine swap would certainly be one way to go, but that could get pricey.

The next little bit below depends on your transmission. Boosting an automatic is a recipe for disaster.

If you are willing to sacrifice fuel economy for HP, then FI would be my choice. The F22 engine that resides under your hood will handle boost like a champ. I don't know of any supercharger kits that are made for those engines, but there are plenty of turbo kits.
