A better way to measure oil volume ??
I admit it, my R likes to burn a little oil now and then.. specially when I get those high-RPM VTEC cravings .. and that's all good in my book. The problem is when the oil gets too low for my engine's own good. I know I can get an oil-pressure gauge and that will tell me when my motor is pretty much out of oil. However, is there something that can monitor the amount of oil in the crank ?? Is there such a thing ?? What I want is a gauge that will tell me when my crank is halfway empty rather than a gauge telling me I'm out of oil in the middle of morning traffic without previous warning.
BTW, yes.. I can/do check my oil manually often.

If VTEC stops engaging, change your oil, because you're low enough that your pressure is drastically affected, but not low enough to do any serious damage under normal driving conditions... If your oil light comes on, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE.
An oil pressure gauge will tell you plenty. But checking your oil every morning is a good idea, that's what I do. I notice after 1,500 miles, my caR starts burning a bit.

you pressure will change if your oil is too thin. too old.. i'm not sure how much of oil loss you need to have in order to see change in pressure.. your best bet is to check and top your oil as often as possible until you get that problem fixed
