Default SRS light

Friend of mine has an 03 civic EX (5spd), Bone stock.
Today we noticed his SRS warning light came on, so theres obviously a malfunction somewhere in the Airbag system.

Question: I already had him setup to go have it checked at the Honda dealer tommorow, but Is there a way of checking it yourself or no? I would guess not, thats only for the CEL trick (at least only on 92-00 civics).

Do you have a driver seatbelt buckle failing to latch reliably?

Seatbelt latch malfunction will cause the SRS light to come on.

search the Seatbelt PIN reset to see if its just a fluke. The method you use to reset 92-00 civics is the same as 01-05's. if that doesnt work, then you know either somethings unattached or broken

I have an 5sp 02 Civic EX Coupe with same problem. Took it to dealer late last week. Bad news. Turns out the SRS controller needs to be replaced and the SRS error code erased. Dealer estimates the job is going to set me back $480.

^Thats BS. Try the reset if you havent already. If that doesnt work have your srs ecu 'cleared' thru someone capable (ebay auctions for $60 service and it DOES work) OR just buy a used/non airbag deployed srs unit for >$130.

Thanks

If you cant find it on a honda parts site try ebay. Alot of srs components list the p/n or have pics where they are visible.
