Default JDM B18C specs

Hello honda friends,

Can anyone confirm the JDM type R B18C specs for me? I noticed a lot of companies selling JDM ITR motors posting diff. specs for this motor? Ive seen 11:1 or 10:8 compression ratio and ive seen diff. HP numbers from 195 to 210? They say the 98 and up motors include a 4 to 1 header and shorter gearing for the tranny, but cant confirm the power numbers? Thanks in advance!

I beg to differ but my JDM b18c5 makes 285whp with 310ft lbs of torque completely all motor. I get no traction so I have to replace the Musimoto ZX tires with Mushimoto XYZ tires, and a Motec system exhaust complete with bearings and rotary pistons.

They were not "rotary" pistons, they were "oval" with dual connecting rods as shown in this Honda picture.

Notice the type-r coating on the piston skirts!

I was gonna go this route too!! But the 32 valve cylinder head was out of my budget. I was bumming too, because revving to 14,000 rpm is the $hit!!!

Nope. 32V 750cc V4. Cost 50-60k in '92 which was just silly.

This threads hilarious!

96-97 B18C has less hp and a different header (4-2-1) than the 98+ B18C (4-1). The 98+ also had shorter gears. Besides the OBD difference everything else is minor.

For registration purposes the B18C5 would be easier to pass as it actually came with the car. Just make sure you get your car model year or newer.

haha, to the OP they are just messing with you, it happens with noobs. we have all been noobs at one point

there are differences between the motors, but it isn't something that is going to make a dramatic difference, well, besides the final drive in the tranny

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by all boost &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I just wanted specs on a JDM ITR motor, tranny, and ecu......... now i dont know where to look without getting false info before i buy? comp ratio: JDM 11.1 USDM 10.8
HP: slightly higher in the JDM motor, not going to notice a difference
ECU: depends what spec motor you get

just get it from hmotorsonline.com and call it a day

Having recently bought a car I couldn't register in my home state, I'd be more worried/interested in how I was going to pass emissions (depending on whether that's an issue in your locale).

With respect to your actual questions, I'd do some more searching/reading instead or call a few of the sellers of the motors, and form an opinion from the info you find.

I still think you need to get some of those oval pistons, though.

The JDM ITR motor has a comp ratio of 11:1, if you buy a 96-97 model it is OBD2A, the 98 and up model (I don't know when they stopped production) is OBD2B. The 98 spec has 4-1 headers and gruntier cams which provide it with a smidgen more torque and hp. I can't fill you in on the gearbox sorry as I'm not a specialist on that sort of stuff. I have a 1997 JDM DC2R here in NZ and the stamping on the block says B18C, not B18C5 or B18CR.

If you'd like anymore info on the motor pm me.
