LSD = Limited Slip Differential

It goes in the tranny, not the motor.

And I don't think this needed to be a poll.

Lysergic Acid Diethymide, a halluciagenic drug. Yea it could help your engine. It will make you hallucinate that your car is going wicked fast through the pretty pretty colors.

J/k You know someone had to do that.

LSD stands for Limited Slip Differential. LSD's work on transmissions and unless you do alot of racing or serious off-roading, then no you don't need an LSD

You might know if you needed one, if you knew what it was first...

limited slip diff. is very nice to have if you have the extra $ and participate in some kind of motorsports.

If you honestly don't know what LSD is why do you think you need it?

Here's an easy way to decide.

1)Is your car fwd?

2)Do you drive it fast?

3)Do you want to car to cut corners instead of flubbing to the outside of the turn when you hit the gas?

Then the answer is YES

LSD's are pretty much mandatory imo for a fwd that you want to handle.

agreed with the above. you should have used the search option in the upper right corner first off. if your motor is in preparation for higher than stock output, then you can benefit from having lsd. basically what it does is allow both your wheels to spin vs just your one. launching and cornering is where you'd notice the most.

LSD's actually put power to the wheel that has more grip. and yes this is a nice thing to have, if you want to launch better/quicker, and corner faster then LSD is the way to go.

LSD isn't just (or even mainly) for launching. When you are cornering under power, without an LSD the car will swing toward the outside of the corner, and with the LSD the nose will tuck in and you can tighten the line.

You don't need above stock output. A good LSD is probably a better way to spend money than I/H/E, etc. Learn to drive, then just get the car to quit fighting you

i never said lsd was just for launching. i said that you would notice it most in launching and cornering. i also never said you need above stock output. i said you can benefit from it. more power being put to the wheels with lsd, with the better traction puts your car in motion better than without lsd.
