i was really iffy about this motor and i put it on my motor stand and flipped it around and on the bottom where the oil pan is it says p72 and the bottom of the rods say p72 did i just get fucked over buying this type r because i could of sworn that type r's had p73 everywhere i only see p73 on the pistons and the intake manifold please let me know what to look for to check this out!!!!

The biggest problem with the import community is the lack of conscious when it comes to the exchange of stollen property.

By willingly purchasing an item that has VIN tags removed, you are telling everyone around you that you do not care about other's property or well being. If there weren't buyers like you, there wouldn't be any stollen cars.

I wonder how you would feel if your car was stollen from you and all you got was an ***-reaming by your insurance company.

Fortunately for me, my old college roomate is an FBI Major Thefts agent. I will pass this information along to him.

On a more pleasent note. If there are any R owners in the Florida area who recently lost their car, check your records and see if this engine code matches yours. 5300810. You may have just found your old engine.

OP, even Type-R rods have P72 on the visible part when you remove the sump, but they also have R on the arms.

and if it says P73 on the pistons and on the intake manifold, it is NOT a JDM B18C. your friend is lying and therefore you are lying too

Funny, above you mention that it has B18C5 stamped on it... Doesn't sound like a JDM block to me. Better get your affairs together buddy, sound like you'll be spending some time with Bubba in your own little gated community

Any proof?

Tranys don't come with VIN tags when bought new from Acura but they still have the holes for the rivet tags. I am not certain about the block but would think its the same

It is the same. All '96 and up US market B series have a vin plate on the block, just like the trannies. That goes for every single '96-'01 Integra, and, '99-'00 SI.

'94-'95 Integra's and B16 del Sol's do not have said vin plates. But rather barcoded stickers on the tranny.

 

dude this is my first swap im doing on my own car i payed alot of money for this thing.. i got it through my friend.. and last night i had him look at it and where the vin plate is supposed to go it doesnt look tampered with at all but the jdm blocks just have holes with no threads so im not sure the only thing that worried me was i though everything was supposed to say p73 on it and it says p72 on the rods and the block and the pistons have p73 as well as the intake manifold so im not sure if this is a jdm gsr or if this really is an r...

What other people have been trying to tell you, is that the VIN's were never screwed in. They were rivited, so there will be no thread marks. You stated earlier that it was a B18C5 which is a USDM motor, but now you are saying it is a JDM motor. Which will only have the stamp B18C. Take pics of the number and VIN area on the block and post them up, before anyone will believe this isn't a hot motor. There are alot of people in here who have had cars stolen from them and are pretty bitter with people who come in here with the possibility of their stuff being stolen. Again take some pics and post them before anyone here will give you some real help.

 

Type-R and GSR share some parts, Honda just kept the P72 stamp on those parts. Don't stress it, if you trust your friend, then he didn't screw you over.

 

give this poor guy a break he didn't buy the motor knowing it was stolen. I bought a tranny that i didn't know was stolen until my friend pointed out the scratched out vin hell i did even know trannys had vin on them before that he should go to jail the person who stole this engine should go to jail
