Hello everyone today was one of those days you know. Well I was driving down the freeway in the car pool lane, I see some debris on the lane so I quickly turn to the left so i can avoid it but there's a car on the other lane. I look to the rear and there is a car behind so couldn't just stop. I hold on tight to the steering wheel and BANG! it feels like my front tires blew out and I'm driving on the rim.
At the same time my air bags deploy and smells like something is burning and smoke fills the inside car, i can't see, and I'm still driving. I reach for the hazard button then roll down the windows I switch lanes and still can't see ****; I almost hit a SUV but then the smoke clears and I pull to the emergency lane. I'm scared I think to myself "i'm ok" i look towards my passenger side to make sure my sister is ok she says yes.
We get off the car and look back to see four cars with flats and damage. I go over to the front of my car and everything looks ok, no flats, no bent rims, no damage to my front bumper. I look at my windshield and its broken and i have airbags deployed. I look under my car and there is a big piece of metal that is stuck under my car. I jack up the car pull the bitch out and turn on my car and it feels the same still runs like champ. I'm happy
its running good.
So now i have to replace the windshield which i will do tomorrow. The thing is that my airbags are hanging out. How do i fix this? Is it fixable? Does anyone know what i can do to fix the airbags? or should i cut them out? My windshield is running 320 and some change. I cant get the air bags fix right away. Any suggestions. Yeah i know insurance but i have to pay 1g deductible which i can't do right now.

DO NOT cut your airbags.... they need to be replaced with the panels/components that they deployed from. on top of that, there is a chemical reactionthat takes place inside the airbag which then causes the airbags to inflate, might not want to mess with that stuff(not sure exactly what chemicals they are) they could be harmful.
im not an expert but ive heard that the typical cost for to replace a deployed airbag with labor and parts and all is about 1g, each. so id just pay the 1g, and get EVERYTHING fixed, if there is any hidden damage it will get fixed too. alignment, scratches, anything, airbags, windshield, etc etc etc

stolen parts FTW
I have heard you really arent suppose to repack your airbags. Reason being that "smoke" was probably not "smoke" but the packing powder to keep the airbag from sticking to itself. I'm really suprised you can drive the car after the airbags deployed. Anyways, try and find some way of getting the airbags fixed, talked to the partents if that is an option, even though you will have to swallow a bit of pride, or talk to visa.

You'll need both air bag modules, which yes can cost about $1k+ each. You will also need a clock spring, new front air bag sensors, and possibly a new air bag control module. Also you may have to replace your front seat belts if they locked up. I'll get back to you after I check out my estimating system, I can try to give you some prices.
Prices in my system:
Drivers Side Air Bag - $611.17
Clock Spring - $36.83
Control Module - $169.53
Passenger Air Bag - $696.08
LT Front Sensor - $44.07
RT Front Sensor - $44.07
Windshield - $413.05
Reveal Molding - $9.38
Keep in mind these are just prices, you still have labor to look forward to.

Well you better be careful doing that, cause it's highly illegal and dangerous. Also I believe the seat belts run about $160 a pop. There is going to be a lot of labor involved also so it's going to be a pretty expensive job, may want to get it into the shop ASAP and get a rental.

Do you have rental coverage through your insurance? I believe your accident would fall under comprehensive, call your insurance company and find out. They may be able to get you into a car. I know at the body shop I work in, if the customer doesn't have rental coverage, we help them out with a discounted rate through Enterprise, so ask the shop you take it to also, they may be able to help.
If you cannot even afford to pay your insurance deductible maybe you should have thought about purchasing a different(more inexpensive) vehicle..?.
Get it fixed right the first time, especially when it comes down to anything related to the SRS system. And as others mentioned its highly likely theres more damage than you can see.
I wouldnt be driving ANYWHERE with the vehicle in its current state.

dont understand why you dont file a claim with your insurance.
500 is the normal deductable, i know that most banks dont allow anymore than 500 if you finance the vehicle.
if you're worried about your insurance going up it shouldn't. it should be filed as a comprehesive(?) claim. meaning you didn't hit anyone and you couldn't avoid the situation.
but g/l with getting it back to normal.
