driving down the highway the other day. i hear this rubbing/grinding noise thinking that it was a belt. i hear something pop and i immediately turn the car off and coast to the side lane. i thought it was a broke timming belt. but upon inspection today i say a big chunk of my block stuck in my radiator. take a look and its a whole the size of my fist in the front of my block and i think i see the crank and a rod hanging out. so my question is what could have caused this and is there anything that i need to check when i swap the block out. do i need to check the head or anything like that. o before this happened my car was misfiring but not all that bad.
Damn chris that noise was the worst case I thought it could possibly be, rod knock.
So you threw a rod....wow that sucks incredibly.
When the head comes off you just need to look and make sure that the rod you threw didn't let the piston smash into the combustion chamber and ruin that or the valves.
PM me though, I may be able to find you a block.

how bad of a misfire or was it more of a back fire where you are running to rich cause i am having that problem right now. i have never heard of the block breaking off in a chunk like this... at which cylinder was this?
