Default z6 turbo vs b16 swap?

im debating on weither or not to save up for a b16 complete swap (gotta love dohc vtec) and plus it looks mean under the hood, or should i just turbo my z6? its got 136,000 miles on it. im kinda leaning towards the swap. im dropping it in my 1992 hatch SI. just asking for HT opinions =]

Turbo Z6 will be faster, and there's more than 1 type of intercooler out there.

alright well a b16 pulls as hard as a d16 until you hit around 5k and then you feel the difference... i think b16 blow but thats just my personal opinion... turbo the d dude you will get more power and be more satisfied. and yes there is an intercooler that mounts to the side or in the fender just under the intake hole on the passenger side for that sleeper look if that's what you want...

get some forged piston's and rods, arp headstuds, head gasket, new rod bearings, and for the love of god please have it tuned... you don't need to touch the head it will be fine, the sleeves are good for 400 whp.... you can make an easy 300 whp on that setup depending on the turbo you get....

you can peice together a turbo kit or just buy a full new kit

edit: didn't see the 136k part... if you really want to keep the d then i'd port and polish the head as well.... but you're gettin into some money now

Damn the head. Don't worry about that unless you're going for big numbers.

Do a compression test to see if your engine is healthy, and piece together a junkyard turbo setup. You should be able to piece together a fully custom setup for ~$1000 or less that'll put down ~180-190whp.

I agree, mostly because there is a 136K miles on the clock.

I have a boosted D, and i love it!

However, this topic has been covered time and time again....do RESEARCH, and decide for yourself what the best option is for your goals.

But who usually gets the intercooler mounted on the side? o_o

I was just giving him my opinion

136k is nothing for a Honda. Turbo the D. If you blow it up, theres always a cheap replacement.

Pull the motor....rebuild it with forged internals (rod bearings too), clean up the head some (get a shop to check the valves, etc...don't forget ARP headstuds), put a new timing belt, tensioner, and water pump (replace all gaskets and seals)...turbo it and tune it....and you're good to go.

I wouldn't do the B16...in stock form those things have no torque whatsoever...B18C or B18C1 because I'm biased

^I'm with you on that one.

For the most hp per dollar, forced induction (turbo, supercharger, nitrous) is the way to go on a streetable car.

Werd.

And the only way to get an all-motor car to REALLY run is put it in a gutted 2,000 pound car...where's the fun in that?
