Default What WHP for a Street Ride.

Hi everyone.

Well i´m going to boost my civic Si soon. i was wondering what would it be a good WHP for a Street ride pushing hard from time to time in the way home or to race someone and smoke it. but still driveble.
Does a street car daily drive worth the extra money to do the bottom end (pistons, rods)

Thanks.

WELL, first off to even give semi realistic whp estimates (which are pointless anyways) WHAT MOTOR/TURBO/MANIFOLD, ETC.????? It's easy for anyone to come in here and say 250whp(or any other fairly low #) is good for a DD, but depending on what route you want to go and more improtantly the parts of the build you have are big issues.

250-270whp will be fun and reliable ..... but then you will just want more...so this thread is kinda of pointless ..good luck

I have the most fun with stock/mildly modded cars. Lets face it, you can't really PUSH a 400whp, 2200 pound hatch safely on public roads.

True
Thats high maitenance too, lol.

most ive seen as being streetable is around 250-270 area. After that, its gets kinda ridiculous, and hard to drive like a normal car.

junior year in high school i daily drove a boosted b16 swapped eg. I was making 260 to the wheels. Was perfect. Fun, yet a little too crazy especially for a young kid. The car did a 12.3 1/4 on slicks. I'd say anywhere around there like people area saying should be fine. Tires will be used up quickly though, and watch out for toque steer. I would get it in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Also that high 1st and 2nd gear are kinda pointless if ur trying to race someone from a dig. I usually spun too much.

I have a 3 friends that all daily 600+whp cars and they are very reliable. It just depends on how much you want to spend. On a race tune they all push high 600 low 700 whp. All on 92 octane pump gas.

well i´ll be using GT28RS T3, with quick 4 manifold, 3 inch DP, 3 inch cat and exahust, 255 fuel pump, 525´s injectors. Hondata S300. that will be my set up. but not sure if this set up will worth the internal bottom build. or just get born stock happy to hit 280-300 whp

everyone is different. some ppl are happy with their NA d seris motors and think they are the fastest cars on the road. some ppl have a 200whp NA b seris and this its the ****. when i had my 200whp NA lsvtec i though it was the a waste of $$ and the slowest pos ever.
for me it reall depends on the weight of the car.

i have 320whp in my evo and its slow as hell. it needs >400whp to me fun

for a standard fwd 2700 pound car about 300whp in nice and fun on the street

light chasis like hatches and crx only need about 250whp to be fun but more is always better.

all motor is never fun

just get the peak boost kit from cheap turbos, get the fuel and hondata and you'll be push around 300 more or less depending on your tuner. that will be a fun car!

for what you're aiming for you might not need to do the bottom end... just make sure you get it tuned right and you'll make enough power reliably.

s300 is an excellent choice for EMS!
