idle randomly dropping below 700RPM
My car has been doing this for a gooood while now, I'm talkin at least a year. But I just put in a tach so only NOW can I actually "SEE" whats happening.
My d15b7 auto randomly does not idle at the proper rpm. Sometimes it will idle like it should @ 700RPM but alot of times, especially when its hot outside, it likes to idle really low, so there is excessive vibration... I want to guess maybe 4-500RPM if even that.
I haven't found any rhyme or reason to it yet
other than if it's going to idle at the proper speed it will do it after being initally started (before changing gears in any way) but once it starts runnin at a low idle it doesn't really stop doing it unless something significant happens (that is... long highway trip or shut it off for a while)
Any ideas people?
Thanks for your time!

your idle should be around 700rpm.
have you changed out your pcv valve? this has been known to cause idles to drop.
also you said it does this after highway trips, how is the tension on your throttle cable?

I remember messin with the pcv valve before back in the day, even replaced it once. Didnt really do anything and *i think* it was filthy inside, I bet from oil and carbon, or at least oil... hardly remember much of anything about that day but I wasn't able to do much more than replace it and clean the tubes running to and from it, if there is a clog it might be on the end where it connects to the block or whatever it connects to behind the engine/under the intake manifold.
I dunno tho, but thanks for the reply I'll keep it in mind, still open to more suggestions

reason why i say pcv valve is beacuse it's the one smallest and easiest thing people over look. not to mention, when i did my swap i had the same problem, it drove me crazy for a week until i accidently unplugged the hose running to it and noticed the idle jump to where it was supposed to be. i went ahead and replaced it and never had a problem since, 3 years strong!
