Ees een thar

I have a Skunk2 70mm exhaust, and I love it. Sometimes I do wish it was a bit lower in volume, but that's what the silencer is for, right?

so i've heard of people using the 70mm version, is there something i'm missing or is there really a big difference between the 60 and 70mm versions?

Pros - Sounds like sex, looks good, very deep

Cons - Neighbors will hate you, your eardrums will hate you, cops will zero-in on you constantly.

The whole n/a and f/i that's what i thought but wasn't sure so i thought i'd ask, thanks.

That pretty much settles it i'll probably be picking up the 60mm version later this month. Not worried about db of the exhaust, my old car didn't have a cat just a resonator and straight pipe to the muffler and that was deep, loud exhaust.

I was going to say... Sometimes 60mm isn't always the best for n/a.

When I had my crx w/DOHC ZC, I had a 2.5 inch custom exhaust which I got because I was planning to go turbo. But talking to some of the ZC experts, I found out that the 2.5 inch piping was proven to be the best size for n/a on that motor...

well neither is 3 inches. Obviously if you are set up for Forced Induction 70mm is better but NA I think i'll be fine using 60mm. But who knows usually $50ish cheaper for 60mm so that may sway me.
70mm = 2.76 inches
60mm = 2.36 inches

There is a such thing as too big of a pipe, especially on an N/A engine... The exhaust needs to scavage out of the pipe, not get lost part way through and start to tumble or get forced out...

but not gain as much as you would w/ a 60mm.

i ran a 3 inch on my evo and on paper, that was to big for the stock turbo.
aftermarket companys such as hks works, and apex'i run 2.76" downpipes.

Type One Racing uses a 60mm collector on their race header, so it would then make sense to run their 63mm exhaust. not a 70mm.

bet you it WILL gain more than 60mm given atleast some boltons like i/h too. and i didn't know that the evo would lose power with a 3" exhaust, guess i gotta let my friend know that before he buys an exhaust.

the 70mm is marketed as their race or FI exhaust.. what makes you think having i/h qualifies a vehicle as either one? If you gained just as much with the 70mm as the 60mm wouldn't they just make one exhaust?

hmm that looks wierd to me, must be that a 60mm would have gotten even more rite?

Dunno, nothing on the graph showing a 60mm vs. 70mm comparison... we all know increasing exhaust size can make more power, but at what point are there diminishing returns? That's kinda my question.. would 60mm piping be cause for a velocity increase vs. the larger 70mm? maintaining velocity vs. dumping into a big pipe? I'd like to see a real comparison..

no seriously.. lol

I appreciate you looking for a dyno graph to support what you were saying.. alot of people here "say" alot of things, but don't necessarily care to back them up with any sort of evidence..

for showing a comparison graph for exhaust size on a k20 (even if it was an RSX and not an Si )

haha
yeah i didn't believe it either, until i saw more and more evidence on different websites and was like and that is why i switched to the skunk2 from my evo2. there are more graphs and stuff like that just too lazy to look for more and post it up. and the rsx k20 isn't that far off the si so it should hold true for it too.
