rip off an ex wing?
Has any one tried to take off the little lip/wing on a Honda Civic EX? I am going to buy a civic today. I want a civic si but for what I need the manual is inpractical and with fuel prices hiking the way they are the maual will require the premium fuel. I like the way the si looks so I am going to get the si rims and spoiler. Yeah I might be a poser but its what I want to do. Thanks for any tips you may have for me.
You rip off the foctory wing you will have holes that need to be filled from what i understand. The wing spoiler has 2 on each side and i think 1 in the middle where the lip on is a little different.
Do a trunk lid swap with an SI. Easiest way I beleive. I don't understand how people find manuals to be impractical though. I found the A/T tranny in my 06 civic impractical - the slighest acceleration resulted in a severe downshift of liek 2+ gears and ruined my fuel economy. I have no prob driving a manual in heavy traffic, there are no problems associated with it.
As for the rims,
Unless you're strapped for cash, going with just the stockers from the next level up is boring.

to make it easier, you might be able to get away with just swapping trunk lids with another Si guy of the same color as yours, lots of people do this

But his isn't.. (modified w/ a lightweight flywheel). I work in downtown rochester (yeah I know, small town but it's growing quickly) and downtown after work is PACKED. Our downtown is poorly laid out and you will get stuck down there for a long time if you don't sneak out of the office early - I drive the SI in that no problem. It's really not that inconvenient, when you weigh it against the pros of a manual.

I think someone posted a pic of like 10 or 11 holes from the spoiler. I think a trunk swap would just be easier.. no worrying about filling holes or anything.

I never said it was inconvenient... Just saying that if he is complaining about driving in that kind of condition he should see what sitting on a steep hill with a guy so close to your rear bumper you cant let the car roll back more then six inches or so... Drive in San Fran and you will get the picture... Steep hills, three or four lanes wide, one way streets, lots of lights...
