Any advantages with going stock EK over stock EG?
I am trying to figure out if either of these is more desireable. The EG is less weight. Which is usually the bottom line in deciding which is better. But I would assume the EK has more body rigidity because of newer chassis? But also since I am looking for a daily/performer I am interested in the cooler dash that the EK has. I can't decide on if the EK or EG looks better than one another. I am looking at some nice EK coupes for sale right now. No EGs right now in the mileage I am looking for.
Also, what can you tell me about the differences with tranny, engine, and I do plan on boosting so what can be said about OBD2 vs OBD1 tuning.
Just an intro post really. I am searching these topics right now. Pls help me out and put a noob in the right direction though.

i personally own a eg. the ek has alittle more of a modern look to it (IMO). but the eg is my favorite of all the civics. it is lighter, most of the integra parts (suspension) are interchangable with the eg. and the biggest reason of all, it's cheaper the the ek.

Pick which one you think looks better.
once modded they'll really be about the same.
Only advantage I see in the eg is integra parts fitting easily.
Technically Ek's weren't made here. Most "jdm fans" call their coupes Ej's.
OBD doesn't really matter. If you're going to swap or turbo it's easy to switch to obd1 for superior tuning capabilities.
It's going to be hard to find 12 year old econoboxes with 12 years of driving. MOst have 150+ in that range.
My white Ej6 hatch had 112k on the clock when I bought it last year. It's a 2000.
Bottom line, pick which one you think looks better inside/out.
Go to the appearance and cosmetic forum and browse through the "ht's nicest eg" and "h-t's nicest ek/ej"

look is one of the big differences (im sure you already know that :-p)
And also if you can get a CX EG they are light as hell and can be made even lighter. I would only be worried about weight if your really trying to make a racecar out of it, not make it the deciding factor between the two.

Cx's will also be your slowest option if you decide to buy one. (in stock form)
In the end they're all going to be within 200lbs of each other.

I like both alot and have owned both, but definitely the styling of the EG gives away it's age nowadays, the EK definitely looks updated by comparison. Another benefit to the EK is the ease of cluster swapping and you can drop in an Si, CTR, or Spoon cluster that look awesome in about 5 minutes.
But yes you're giving up a couple hundred pounds weight advantage with the EK. And if you want a hatchback the EK was not available with sunroof, or power locks/windows/mirrors which are a plus with a d.d. You can convert to power door stuff though.
I wouldn't give alot of thought to mileage though...if you intend to rebuild or swap just make sure you get something with a solid rust-free body and you'll be in good shape.

That's the EG. In the EK you just take out the 2 upper screws holding the cluster bezel on, then tug it good to pop the lower clips. You can now see the 4 screws holding the cluster in...take those out and you are now free to pull the cluster out and unplug it. Reverse order to install.

just pick whatever car you like better. personally, i picked an eg over an ek because it is shorter and lighter, thus more potential imho.
