Default mystery clicking

i seem to be getting a single "click" noise whenever i either down shift, or if i was reversing and am still slightly rolling back but start to drive foward in 1st, OR if i'm in like 2nd or 3rd at high rpm and just gas it real quick then let off. the noise is coming from either the left or right (or both) tires.

i've already checked the axles, and the cv boots look fine. anyone have any idea what this click could be? thanks.

p.s.- i've seen the post down the list about the "clicking when turning". it's not when i turn, and its not a continuous clicking. just seems to happen when the car is getting torque.

sounds like an axle issue, when you inspected the axle you only check the cv boots? lol
they have bearings inside that can be worn.

well i didn't really inspect them, i was under the car and thought about it so i just took a look at the boots. but yea someone else suggested it might be the bearings clicking together.

you might want check your engine mounts too.. could be loose mounts.. it happened to me last time when i switch my mounts to poly and forgot to torque the one at the back thats bolted to the frame, so everytime theres torque on the engine like you said the rear mount moves and makes the metal click sound..

i just got this car from a one owner, older adult. the mounts weren't ever touched. it definitely seems like it's coming from the wheels. and after running at the track today i got a "playing card in bicycle spoke" sound, but that went away after i parked the car for a bit. it's weird.

ok.. try this.. put your car on ramps (do not jack it up coz it has to have weight like its on a level ground) then go underneath.. try to move your axles (like yankin it up, down, sideways) and listen if its making the sound you are referring to..
and check your intermediate shaft.. that has a bearing too.

well i noticed with the car in the air, both axles move like, in and out from the hub, and it makes a click noise. i'm thinking that could be the noice i'm hearing. but i'm gonna try to get the ramps too and see if it makes the same noise.
