Notice a Vtec head
Hey everyone. I want to know like when getting heads from ebay or shops places. How can you tell whether the head is vtec or not?
Like i know you got the valve cover but sometimes or most of the time they sell the head without the valve cover. Comparing the h23 and h22 their both DOHC but one's vtec.
What is a key to noticing a vtec head especially a h22?

if you can see the cams, that will give it away. the VTEC heads have 3 sets of lobes per cyl per side, (IE>> 16 valve I4. 4 valves per cyl. 2 exhaust on one side, 2 intake on other side. If you look at let's say cyl 1 area of the intake cam, you will notice actually 3 lobes instead of 2. the two valves follow the outside 2 profiles, while the VTEC lifter follows the middle one.
