90 5spd with a usdm 94 h22 shouldnt be too hard to pass ref.

but once you take it to the ref you have to finish it all the way legal, other wise just stay away from the ref and under the table if you cant get it to pass

what is the point of getting the vafc...it useless not to mention it will fail visual unless you can hide it...

in cali, to pass the ref, you need to get the engine is same year or newer than the car, all the smog related components, vaccum lines are connected, (usdm version is require at the GWC ref place) and of course the emission test...i did mine and all i need is change everything to usdm version of the smog components...

if you not sure what you need, just take it to test and they will tell you what you need...but like raceACCORDingly said, once you let them test, you gotta pass it with them or else you cant do anywhere else, even if you paid high price for it....

so i can take it to ref and if it dosent pass, i can still pay have a buddy "MAKE it pass" for a little extra at my local smog shop right. and if it does pass the ref then thats all i can do is ref right so if i decide to do any mods it would be a pain because i would have to take them off to have it refd right. thanks alot guys..

you cant "MAKE it pass" at your friend's shop or elsewhere once you go to the ref because they will put a hold on your car...
think thru before what you want to do...because once you go to the ref, you HAVE TO PASS IT LEGALLY WITH THE REF, no other ways around...but once you pass with the ref, they will issue you a sticker and you can legally smog at any shop

but, bar ref'd swap can still get referee tickets for any engine modification.
