Default 10 second berrier(frustrated)

well,finaly got my car to the track I made a hair under 600whp It's a built gsr sleeved all the goodstuff.I thought i was a good driver but I had to relearn how to drive the car (it has been awhile) and all i wanna do is hit 10,s,is this to much to ask? I have now made 8 passes or so and it seems like every pass some thing else goes wrong either miss a gear or blow the tire's off or something.I ran 11.10@133mph my last pass and it felt like my new exedy twin was starting to slip.as i said it is always something . im cutting 1.70 sixty,s im just wondering if the car should run tens,it weighs 2500 with me in it 590whp,t3/t67,10psi of boost in first and second ,and 20psi in third and fourth,im wondering if that may have something to do with it if i need to play with that so if you big dogs could let me know what think about all this and give me some insight i would appreciate it because i was dying to go 9,s but i cant even do that so i would settle for 10 anything but now that seems damn near impossible

should be able to lay more power down than 10 lbs in 2nd gear. I hit the same wall back in 2003. Bunch of 11.0s...ran my first 10.9 and next weekend out, the car ran 10.5s...you have more than enough to run well into the 10s.

well for starters the car is deffinately capeable of 10s at that power level and weight. you might want to post your entire slip. the MPH is there as well. i went 10.95@130 on 420whp weighing 2450. so post up the rest of your slip so we can see where in the 1/4 mile your not doing so great on. keep your head up, your almost there. it took me a few passes to finally get a clean one. when your at the end of the track and you can say, that went almost perfect, its usually a good pass and it will show on a slip. but for now like you said you have yet to get one of those "clean" passes. keep hitting those test nights!

11.02 here man

Thats racing for you. Ive been at the track every weekend trying to get myself dialed in, and ive found out it takes more than 8 passes to do that..

Dont really have any advice yet, but hopefully I will soon

Stay with it

and try running about 15-16 in second and see what that does

If you can get that down a bit thats all you need. Thats not a bad 60' but if you can dial in the suspension and tire pressure some low to mid 1.6's would be cake. Definitly crank it up some more in 2nd gear!

we need to know your 330 & 1/8mile . 10 psi sounds good for 1st , second is a little low
is all a big game when it comes to et times. your short time is where u get 10s so we need to see your slip up to the 1/8.
i have same power putting down 587whp on dyno my car alsp weights 2550
i get 10.4s all day with 1.74 60ft cant remember 330ft but my 1/8 is always in the 6.8s. maybe 6.9 low. in still working on my 60ft & 300 more than anything cause thats where u get-r-done.
just have to play with the boost to see what it does. aslo what slicks do u have.
cant get it overnight takes time

I agree, I was having a similar situation this past weekend, stepped up to the 25" M&H, and just didn't have enough power with the way the dual-stage was setup previously...only 10 lbs in 1st, to get the car going down low. I was sitting in the mid-11's all day on Saturday, turned up the boost in 1st to match the rest of the gears, and bam 10.92 on Sunday.

With the power levels you're at, you should easily be in the mid 10's for sure, what's your suspension like? What kind of 1/8 mile and 330' are you putting down?

60 ft=1.716
330'=4.94
8th=7.49
mph=101.4
1000=9.57
1/4=11.12
mph=133.34

Numbers seem a bit slow for the power you're making, what size tire are you using? Do you have tire screws in?

this is probably a dumb question (no i dont have screws in) but is it possible for the wheels to spin in the tires in third and fourth gear because it kinda felt like my clutch (brand new exedy twin) was slipping.either way i will look in to that.

dissapointed and frustrated any other suggestions

If the tires spin on the rim, you loose air.

Sounds to me like rota92 touched on your problem. PM him and have him get you in touch with Ed at Progress Suspension if your serious about going faster.

its better to run numerous sub 11 sec runs then to run one 10sec run. Just have fun and enjoy the track. When you least expect it and the car felt like it ran 11s you will get your 10sec timeslip. It will come to you. and if at first you dont succeed dust your self off an try again. Just don try breaking anything in between.

I just got over the same problem last year, i cant tell you how many 11.0 timeslips i have. You have the hp and mph to get into the 10's. Like others said turn the boost up in first and second. I run 20psi off the line and in a car that weighs 2650 w/me in it making a tad over 500whp i run 10.7-10.8's consistently at 133mph. My car usually cuts 1.67-1.72 60fts.

Hey tommy

first off, put me in the car and ill put it into the tens
i went 1100s on 24s with under 500
anyway, if u at delmar they suck we both know that, my car slow d down 1/2 sec there
1.6 s 60s should be normal, at delmar 1.7s prob ok
car should run 10s easy, but i would run more boost in first and second
leave off anti lag and spin those tires, as far ast eh clutch slipping u still on a cable trans, make sure that adjustment is right, that can cause all kinds of problems

tires prob not spiing in 3/4th gears, i would not think there, but maybe on 1 gear

anyway, call me and ill explain
later tommy

Dan

Another question..how old are your slicks?

Put a pair of MT 24.5X9X13s on there and your problems will be solved
