hi guys, I'm new here, and I want to change my wheels and tires. The wheels i want to put in will be 18" and for the tires i want something wider than i have now 205/60/15
But how wide can i go?I was thinking about 255/35/18, but not sure if it will fit....
My honda is 2005 accord LX, 4 door. Also what width of the rim will i need?

going any wider will actually hurt performance on that car.</TD></TR></TABLE>

If you don't need to use these tires in snow and winter, I recommend the Kumho Ecsta SPT. $114/tire in that size.
If you have to use the same tires all year round, I recommend the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S, $125/tire.

Tires that size are usually approved for rims 7.0-8.0 inches wide. So 18x7.5 would be ideal, but you could also use 18x7 or 18x8.

can you tell me how its going to hurt the perfomance and why? what about 225 tires?
I just want something wide, or do you think that it is better to just go with 215?
And yes i will probobly use it for winte too

Several ways:
- Larger tires have the same effect as putting taller gears in your transmission; within each gear, they make the road speed slower for a given level of engine RPM. As a result, the rate of acceleration is slower.
- Larger tires may rub on the wheel wells and fenders.
- Larger tires will also make your speedometer and odometer inaccurate.
Stick with tires the same outer diameter as stock, and you won't have these problems.
If you're looking for better performance, concentrate on getting better tires, rather than wider tires.

Yes, stick with 215/45-18.

Then you will need all-seasons, in which case the Kumho ASX is a good choice.
However, you should be aware that that compromise - getting all-season tires, to enable your tires to grip in snow and bitter cold - results in reduced performance the rest of the year. The alternative, which a lot of people do, is to get a spare set of wheels, and to use one set for winter or all-season tires in winter, and the other set with higher-performance summer tires the rest of the year.
