Default Radio Question

I've done some searching and I haven't seen many results for this. I guess maybe people don't have the same problem. I installed a Sony Explode headunit into a friends 2001 Civic. The only problem is that the radio stations don't pick up very well while it sits in the spot. Like if I pull it out and tilt it just the slightest bit it works perfectly fine, but if I slide it back so it sits flush with the rest of the car it becomes staticy and doesn't pick up stations very well. I was wondering if anybody else had any problems similar to this, and what y'all did (if anything) to fix it.

Also I switched around HU's and tried my sony in her car and her sony in my car, they both work fine in my car, but not in hers. I don't know whats up.

That happens when you remove the stock unit cuz the stock unit has an internal antenna where the aftermarket head units dont 90% of the time.

I had the same problem, bought satellite radio and never turned back. I do not miss free radio, it sucks !!!

Thanks for the help guys. Actually the Sony HU has an antenna amplifier as does the stock HU which means it needs to be hooked up correctly in order to work which i forgot to do on this install.

First make sure the antenna lead does not bind on anything when you put it back in. Also make sure it did not come unplugged from the second plug. I don't know why honda made it like this. But some cars have a extension plug to the antenna lead

don't mean to bring up an old thread, but I'm trying to figure out which color wires I needed to hook from fro the Sony HU plug to the Civic plug for the antenna lead. I searched and found it a while back but I totally forgot what I had searched in order to find it. I'm just trying to help one of my friends fix her cd player which the radio doesn't work on it b/c the antenna amplifier doesn't work. It's an '01 EX. Thanks for any help.
