whats considered *high milege* for a 12 year old CRX??
looking at two SIs
88 SI $1300USD (150miles)
90 SI $2200 (110miles)
both cars have something extra like Greddy catback, GSR leather seats, clears, pw, short shift
both paint in good condition i personally know the guy for few years, but he wants the most money for his stuff i wanna pay the least for my next car
.... dont know what to offer his holding it for me for few more days..
so are these considered HIGH MILEGE for a honda?? i mean the engine would be changed to B16 but is it worth putting money into a 150000miles crx??

my 88 HF had 243,xxx when i bought it (last Nov.), from the original owner. no rust, engine ran great (it was a HF engine so it was still slow as ****), now it has 826,xxx...ok so i was ****** with the cluster....
i'm about to click 300,000 on my hb. i have the b16a with the place racing mounts and it rattles everything. maybe just the mounts but i think the car is just gettin worn. troubleshootin rattles takes forever.
don't worry about the milage.. just look at the body frame, interior, & basically anything you cant replace with aftermarket or somthing honda has to fix.
If there isn't any rust on either of them, I'd go for the 88 (see how that "passive rear stearing" feels) it's significantly lighter than the '90. BUT, you WILL need to upgrade the rear brakes to disc if your going for the B16. If your planning for a engine swap, and both chassis have no rust at all, seriously go for the '88, the '90 is only better cuz of the rear discs since motor doesn't matter.
yeah go for a 88 HF, i have had two (first one met the side of a truck, and was rusted out). they are lighter than anyother 88-91 Civic or CRX. they dont have those door mounted seat belts, side protection beams (is that a good thing?), HF's dont have those heavy sunroofs. lighter everything like: seats, front bumper (basicly no bumper support there), even a lighter engine (but your going to swap the engine anyway, i hope), smaller brakes and axles, no sound deadening (sp?), no rear wiper........ basicly Honda stripped out everything for you already
just make sure its not rusted and the chassis is strait. everything else is going to get replaced (engine, tranny, suspension, etc) with performance stuff anyway. but remember if you get a HF that you will need to swap the hubs if you do a B-series swap (easy to do), and you should upgrade your brakes if you do anything to the car (Si calipers and rotor are suppost to bolt up to the HF hubs)...

The 88 is lighter and has different suspension than 89-91 (rear control arms stamped instead of cast- and supposedly has more oversteer
). Personally I like the 90-91 - better seats, 20 spline input shaft on trans (88's are the oddball with 21- may be a problem when choosing a clutch or if trying to sell the trans) rear discs, and probably less rust. If you are swapping just get the one with a better body. Bushings are probably shot on both.

168,231 miles and my car still runs "Like A Rock", seriously CRX engines are real good if they have been take care of
88's are the oddball with 21- may be a problem when choosing a clutch or if trying to sell the trans
and while we are on the subject of oddball items, the rear shocks on a 88 are also readally avalibale, i had no problem, cuz they are the same shocks a ITR uses so places stock them...
i would definitely go for the 90 SI and swap the rear control arms to the 88's of you are picky about oversteer. don't worry about 100 pounds- you are getting the nice round guage cluster top and rear discs!! also smooth corners.
96,000 on my 90 si (sorry, I had to brag)...
She getting a sc'd b20b/b16a installed soon (engine is 90% done).

Just my bragging.
BTW: Go with the 88 if you plan on racing it. It is a lot lighter.
lol, all you people have so little miles
i have 325 xxx, on mine. still uns great, needed some cv joints but other that that, its still goin good. dont know how many more miles it has left, but its been taken care of really good.
