anyways me and my gf went and looked at a '99 acura cl and we both really liked it. (actually it's for her... i drive a 2001 s2k) but if u don't know, it has the 3.0 vtec motor and it's got some get up and go. i don't know the exact name of the color but it's kind of a light blue/turquoise ish color w/ black leather all inside and it's got 133k miles on it. but i have a question... after pulling away from stop signs/red lights etc, when it shifts from 1st to 2nd (auto. 5-spd i believe), it sort of jerks when it shifts. it does that somewhat all through the gears but it shifts somewhat hard from 1st to 2nd. so i was wondering if this was normal or not even though the lady selling it had a receipt to prove she took it to a tranny shop and nothing was proven wrong with it. now we both REALLY like the car except she's a little weary about the tranny part of it. if anyone has any knowledge of this and this type of motor, please inform me as much as possible.
thanks!

ps: does anyone know what rpm vtec would kick in at on this motor? ('99 3.0l vtec)
thanks!

The first gen V6 CL's do have some trans problems, less than the 2nd gen but still not that uncommon. I've never thought of them as the smoothest shifting transmissions, even when new. They're a 4 spd auto fwiw. You might want to take it to a dealer or Honda/Acura specialist and get a 2nd opinion before you buy. Might be normal or might be on it's way out, hard to tell over the internet. Could be something as simple as a broken engine mount, that's fairly common as well.
the 3.0CL is the same setup used in the 98-02 accords. Those transmissions are crapola.
get an extended warranty with that car if you buy it. if the trans goes out, it's paid for it's self.
under wot it vtec engages at 3500rpm but you don't feel it until 4K
