Problem taking out outside door handle on 98 Coupe
I am having a hard time getting this piece out of the door:

I can not access the reverse side to get to the clip to pop it out... any ideas on how to get it out?? Thanks and i search and found write-ups but i must be the only one having trouble getting this piece out...

i had the same problem a while ago and nobody helped me, the first one i pretty much ripped it apart till it came off, then i realized that there is a C-clip on the lock tumbler in between the big metal piece and plastic door handle, if you get lucky you should be able to see it if you look up at it from the bottom and just pop it out with a flat head screw driver, then take the lock tumbler out and off comes your door handle, just make sure and test your door like 50 times when you put your new handle back on so it doest get stuck and isn't set right, i didn't and put my panel back on and the door was stuck shut for like 2 weeks and i had to pretty much rip the panel out with the door closed, sometimes you can see the clip through the rectangular slot and push it down so you can pop it out
thanks alot for the help.. i am going to tackle it tonight and see what happens... didnt know something so small and stupid could give such a problem.. lol
thanks again
thanks again
how about searching a little harder next time?

refer to step 2, pull out the little clip on the bottom (you might need a flashlight to see it) with a screwdriver or some really thin pliers if you've got them.
EDIT: I know that JDM_EK_WANNABE's info sounds like it helps, but "ripping apart" interiors sounds like a mickey mouse ghetto-fab "i'm too lazy to do some research" mechanic at work.

If searching in recent and archived threads is not good enough than i dont know how to search. I was looking for pics not a link....
Thanks for the advice on searching though it helped so much.
