Default oil filter question

last time I changed my oil when I bought the filter the part number in the book was the wrong size, I looked in the parts room where I was, and the part number in that book had the same oil filter that did not fit. I was able to take the old one and match it up to a new one. but ide rather not have to take a chance that we have one in stock so does anyone know what kind of filter I need. I have an 1997 Integra GS with a b18b motor.

With very few exceptions, all relatively new Honda engines use the same oil filter. In what way was it the wrong size?

Honda switched to a smaller filter since your car was made. I think they are all the same with the exception of the S2000 filter. (Check on that.) I personally run the S2000 filters (p/n 15400-PCX-004).

15400-PLM-A02 is the filter for all honds now from about 1986 and up for the exception of:

S2000

Is the number you bought a 4459 or 3593A? If so, then it is the correct filter. Maybee it isnt screwing in correct because of some bad threads on the filter. Its rare, but it does happen.

Assuming the s2000 filters are larger , does that mean you have to add a bit more oil ?

You need a little extra oil.

when ever in doubt...jsut stick with oem.....more like S2000 oem filter...a little pricey but if you know someone works in parts in Honda they can usually get it whole price.........keeps peace of mind as well........if you got the wrong filter and was running with it ( keep in mind if you have a oil pressure gauge mounted ) you would notice a difference in oil pressure

OEM is a good point. They have an anti-flowback valve that not all aftermarket filters have.
