All of a sudden my car started making this weird noise. It sounds almost like an exhaust leak, but I can't feel anything coming from anywhere. I'm not sure if it gets faster w/ rpms, but it defenitly gets louder. It basically goes in sinc w/ my exhaust.
It ONLY happens when I'm on the gas, as soon as I let off it stops. Also, I can hear it a little when idle, but barely, mostly only when driving. It seems like its only when theres load on the engine. All stats seem fine: temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure....

Could it be the turbo? an exhaust leak I can't feel? it did seem to smell a little funny, but not distinktly exhaust smell..

Anyway, any ideas are appreciated.

 

I had a problem and it turned out to be the nuts holding the manifold on.
take your turbo's filter off and look at the compressor and rev the car a bit. that will tell you if its the turbo or not.

 

I drove a little more....it happens soley in load. If I push in the clutch when driving, I can barely hear it.

I think it may be an exhaust leak somewhere....maybe in the downpipe or something. I can definitly smell something....

any other input?

 

Matt, on a OT note, the remote starter works fine :D I dunno why it wasn't working at your house, but everything is a-ok now... thanks for the attempt anyway.

 

You have a boost leak from a coupling or the BOV. If you say its only under load than you mean its when its in boost. it could be a leak/crack in the exhaust manifold too.

not boost, just load....like when i press the gas pedal.

 

Is it a Hiss or a putter ? (that sounded so ghey)

Are you running manifold/head studs or bolts ?

 

i dont know about yall but as soon as i move the throtle from 25% to 50% and am at 1psi. i agree with RGAZ, it must be some kind of air leak.

 

yeah...one of the turbo to dp bolts fell off. the one in the far back. thats why i didn't see it until I got under the car.
