Default Good quality header for 6th gen??

OK, the two pipes in the middle of my header cracked around the flange, so I'm getting that welded up. But I'm worried that it may crack again....so my question is - what is a good header to get for a 98 EX with the F23 motor? Greddy doesn't make one...the only "big name" is DC Sports and ehhhh

dc sports are too expensive. i got a decent 4-2-1 header off ebay for $65 shipped. i only had a small fitment issue at the cat, but that was solved by drilling out 2 of the 3 holes to just a bit bigger. had it installed in an hour and 15 mins. it might not be a name brand piece, however, it gets the job done. i noticed a difference in my mid range and top end. it def. pulls a bit harder.

I have Megan headers and the only problem was that the two pipes in the middle are cracked all the way around at the flange. That is why I asked if anyone knew of good headers because I don't want to have the problem again.

I had the top of them welded but they didn't have time to change the gasket and the underside done since they had to take the header off. Hopefully when I get it welded it will stay that way because I don't want to run into this issue again.

DC sports headers are deff worth the price tag. I know every one of my friends who bought a no name brand header off ebay, say there 100% ****. EVRY sing one cracked with in a month or two..

The DC header compared to the Ebay header is mainly the poor quality of the welds on the ebay piece. You will not regret going with the DC header.

Well I've heard different things....some say DC were good, some say they sucked so I don't know. And I'm getting this one re-welded tomorrow so maybe it won't have that problem again, I don't know though. We will see....if it cracks again, then it's a new header for me.

Yea, it probably was the NOS. I'm getting it welded up to see if that fixes it.

DC Sports
Greddy (get it from the 5thgens F22b1 - same head),
Kamikaze
Megan Racing (some people swear by them but eehh...)
Neuspeed N2 (discontinued)

That's probably all of them available for the F23.

HAHAHAHA.

How much to you think a factory exhaust manifold costs?? Not $65...

I agree with the eGay headers cracking, but even a DC header will not provide much in terms of performance, especially on the H/F. There are a few custom shops out there who produce a quality header which not only lasts, but makes way more power than the DC could ever hope to. However, you will not find these on ebay, and they aren't the same price as a DC.

Greddy, and DC if you really must, are the only brands worth buying.

You're lucky that NAWZ didn't blow the welds on your intake. hahahaha

Re-welding a POS header off ebay really isn't worth any breathing mans time. It cracked for a reason. Pick up a DC, and call it a day. Just don't expect it to give you 20 horsepower.

Well I got it welded up today and my engine doesn't make that horrible sound anymore. Throwing NOS in is a different question though...we'll see what happens. I could go with the Greddy for the 5th gen but I was told the bottom end is different or something....

yeah, thats the manifold from the F22B1 (94-97 EX). A lot of people say it's just as good as the DC sports header.

Oh...well I was talking about the F23 anyways....but the price for that manifold is $180 or something on Majestic. I know the F22 manifold will bolt up at the head, but what about the rest of it? I'd need the downpipe...and on top of that, I have to figure out how to connect it up to my test pipe

If the head is the same, the flanges are the same, the rest can't be far off. At most it might cost you $50 to have a different flange welded on or for a pipe extension.

Question:

i have a 97 accord ex SOHC vtec,
it was said that factory headers are comparable to DC sport headers?

will it be worth upgrading at all them if my factory is comparable to a PERFORMANCE part that i was going to spend hundreds on?

2% rebate...not 20%.....2% is NOT $280. It would be something like $7 off

Nopi has there own brand called Number 1 which different companies make there parts. DC sports make header for Nopi so they can put there Number 1 logo on it. I live in atlanta where nopi is.

My DC sports header cracked at the welds between the 2nd and 3rd runners. No biggie I just rewelded it,but I guess even they are prone to failure..

many would say that no, it's not worth buying the DC header. I've don't have any experience with a DC header since I never replaced my stock EX header on my 95 EX.
