Default Just baught my AP1 S2k.. 4 hours later i find that theres oil leak where drain plug is..

yeah i paid a fair amount for the car too.. 00 AP1 red 111,000 miles black interior, etc..

then after i drop him off at the air port (he came from Utah to san diego to sell me this car) i come home, let it sit for about an hour.. then start working on my car to install my AP1 front lip & red lug nuts, and i see a lil pool of oil by oil pan..

seems as though oil drain plug is leaking, and it wont "tighten"

will i have to get new oil pan , cuz from waht i remember when working on cars at Big O Tires doing oil changes, when u over tighten oil drain plug, it fcked up with the oil pan and therefore u gotta get new oil pan..

chances are you may have to replace the oil pan....try some teflon tape on the threads of the drain bolt... if that does not stop the leak replace the pan....

that is the drawback w/ an aluminum oil pain and a steel bolt, and someone that has no sense of the amount of torque it takes to tighten it......

Previous owner had his oil changes done at the SHOP .. and receits. but too bad its all the way in UTAH or else i could get some money or something.. but thanks for the info.

IS it OK to drive like this for awhile? just as long as i keep adding oil and chedcking it every hour..

Sorry about the misfortune.

High-temp gasket maker for the time being. You're going to either have to re-tap it a slightly larger diameter, but same thread pitch, or get a new oil pan altogether.

Not tryna knock anything. I'm just letting you know to be careful.

Most likely if he didn't pick up and ignored your calls, it's prolly not just becuase of a oil leak .

Maybe he knew about something else and thought you may have found out.

It doesn't hurt to check it into honda and have everything checked out. Certified.

Good Luck Man, I bought an 04 S2000 and the dealer I bought it from weren't being very truthful.

yeah imma order PW JDM's magnetic one and see if it stops it.

Will PW JDM magnetic drain plug fit S2k's oil pan?

the car was done with 40pooint inspectation at honda and he had receit to show it so i dont think anythin else was wrong.

he did email me a day before he came over saying he went to the shop to get oil changed for the drive here, and he had pics of it too since i asked for more pics of underneath the car.

iono motor seems healthy, engine is good, car frame is good. just leaking oil from bolt.

ic, rather try this method then buy new pan w/o even attempting it right?

Hmmm wierd, after i reset the ODO for trip A&B, then got gas, on freeway "maint light" pop'd up and blinked few times, then went away..

what could that be?

(owner did drive 500+ miles to san diego , is it just a normal oil change light or something that goes away?)

ok. only problem left to fix is the oil pan / bolt problem... gonna go to a shop and see how much they charge to do it.. if its not too much might attemp that trick of re-taping the hole

the maintenance light is set as a reminder to get maintenance and is not a diagnostic tool. It is set on a 7500 mile interval or something like that im not too sure of the actual miles but its usually like every 6 months for me.

Any ways long story short there is a button under the steering wheel/dash that you hold for a few seconds when you first start the car and that resets the counter.

IT IS NOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!

Well the Seller finally emails me back, he said it is strange since he said it never happened to him and he said he was checking his oil the whole trip here..

no doubt about it the shop is responsible for this..

To reset it, you use the button on the gauge cluster. No clue what you're talking about resetting it by another button under the dash.
