im trying to put an OBD1 B18a1 into my 93 civic dx. Some people are telling me to use the B18B IM and other people are telling me that it is ok to use the B18a intake manifold. which one should I use.

 

You can use the b18a IM but you need to get the b18b TB because that one has the map sensor on top of the TB and the b18a doesnt.

 

wats up, i saw that your building an LST, if thats for ls turbo you dont want to put those GSR pistons and rods. those pistons are easy to melt over boost. i would stick with the ls pistons to be safe.

As stated before, the b18b IM would be easier for you.

You can always just use a MAP sensor from an obd1 b18a1, and then use the b18a1 IM. Same plug, you just need to find a vacumm source for it, and if you use the a1 IM, it has plenty for it.

I guess most people don't realize where the a1s have their MAP sensor at....

If the A1 is cheaper, use it. They flow difference isnt' huge enough to care about, and they plugs from an obd1 a1 are the same as you need for your EG.

the reason I bumped this topic is. I went to the junkyard and pulled a map sensor out of a obd1 b18a1. am I all set now that I have the map sensor and the b18a1 IM

did you find a vacuum source for your Map sensor? you can mount the sensor anywhere but your vacuum source has to be before the throtle plate i believe. Not sure, it might be after. someone else can chime in
