si issues and how to fix
so I just bought my 4 door si about 2 months ago.. When I went over bumps it sounded like the car was going to fall apart. The head liner rattled and the front two windows rattled. Also the radio had the worst noise EVER! It was a terrible feedback noise. It went into the dealership numerous times for these problems. Yesterday I left my car there all day and when I picked it up it wasn't making any noises. They even got the radio fixed. I have the notes from the mechanic on what caused the problems and how he fixed them.
These are the notes redone by me:
First off the radio feedback. In the 2 doors they have the amp in the center console and closed in. In the 4 doors the amp is under the driver seat. The amp is also grounded and shared with the fuel tank, SRS sensors, and power outlet. I was hearing the fuel pump through my speakers. They made the ground wire longer and grounded it to G505. They also took out the metal bolts to hold the amp down and used plastic. They metal bolts made the ground noise travel into the amp bracket and caused the noise to start up again.
The headliner rattle is caused by the Velcro strip not strong enough. They removed the headliner and re-inforced the Velcro strips with 3M body adhesive. Also installed anti-rattle foam between headliner and roof.
The front windows rattle when window was part down was cause by misadjusted window regulator rattling between door frame and regulator itself. They installed anti-rattle foam between the two and adjusted the regulator.
So I hope this info can help you if you have any of these problems and if you need more information just ask!

I think i have the same problem as you. i have a shacking in my moon/sun roof.
if i hold the head liner up. it will stop . if i let go... it will shake.... when i have the visor closed to my m/s roof. do you think that is the same with the velcro problem you had? cause i will adventually get this fixed. was your noise in the sun roof shaking. AND some days i have my glove compartment shake for no reason. did you have any problems like that?

ya the headliner sounds the same. and no I haven't had any problems with my gloave box. It could be something in there though. I know if I have anything in mine that will rattle it will often do that.

that's weird. I have window visors and I didn't think they would fix it but they did. They have to take the door apart to get to were the rattle is. It shouldn't matter if it's tinted. I think you need a new dealership. lol or raise hell to honda...
I have a similar problem 2 months ago. Whenever I drive over bumps on the road (even small bumps) with the cover (underneath the sunroof) open (but with the sunroof closed), I would hear some rattling coming from the sunroof. It sounded like something in the sunroof is loose. So I took it to the dealer and they put some grease on the rails of the sun roof and the rattling has stopped since then.

wow, this is really informative. i've been on fgcoupe and 8thcivic for a while, and i've read about a lot of complaints, but nothing about the real issue... i.e. velcro, etc. i'm glad this trhead exists.
i've had all of these problems, from day 1. i've got 10k miles on my fg2, and these noises are so friggin' anoying.
i've had a lot of rattling/creaking/squeeking from the dash too. the roads in chicago and milwaukee are so terrible.
my steering wheel insert was rattling too, if you can believe. and it actually began to pop out of the wheel. it's being replaced. the insert i mean.
i will ask about the moon roof, or i'll just try lubing it myself if that works.
the stock stereo actually is rattling.
i've been afraid to ask about the windows because it's almost impossible to recreate unless i drive over a s*** road. but if i can come at them with details about the regulator, etc., maybe they'll take me seriously.
i need anti-rattle foam through this whole car. if they won't do it, then i'll have to find someone who will. i'd even pay for it...

My sunroof makes a ton of noise! It really is getting annoying. Thats the only issue I have though. Doesn't sound like a little lube can be the fix though, as I still see the grease from the factory still in excess, my car is still very young.
Only from the top glass here.
Sometimes if I push up on it a certain way hard enough it goes away completely, but I am afraid this might do some harm in the future and I refrain from doing it. I want a proper fix

the dealership thought I was crazy until they took it for a test drive.. I told them to take it on a bumpy road and when they did they heard everything! Take it in 3 times and then go for lemon law. That's what I was going to do..

lube didn't fix my problem... they had to rip out the head linear to fix it. I also think part of the rattling is the sunroof clover. I had mine change because they got stained it and it stopped some of the rattling.

just took it in.
they too tried the lube thing. ...which did nothing but get lubricant on my headliner that i'm still trying to clean of.
i have to go back because the steering wheel insert they're supposed to replace was ordered wrong and they didn't fix the stock radio rattling.
not sure if it's even worth asking about the moon roof and windows again.
however, the problem was w/ the tech, so maybe if i get a different tech, something will actually be accomplished.

Consider yourself lucky, I have gone in three times for the head liner, the service department wont listen to my advice or ideas as to what is causing the problems... I have been in for the window rattle and front suspension poping, nothing has been done to fix the suspension... The rattle in the winow came back, they said it was a gutter seal or some crap...
I have contacted Honda Corporate who told me they will figure it out and call me in two days... They never called so four days later I called them back and spoke to the manager of the claims department... She listened to my problems and said she will speak to the dealer and call me in two days... That was three days ago...

if any one gets a survey they should take it and tell what a terrible job they did on fixing your car. honestly it works. the dealership gets the survery and they lose there awards. The manager also will get involved. My dad is friends with the owner of the dealership so I did get lucky with it.
I would go talk to the owner, service manager, or the general manager of the dealership. Tell them you are very unhappy that your car isn't fixed. You could also turn it in as a lemon. Also try to call the honda corporation again and again. I know it's a pain but it will be worth it in the end. TRUST ME!
