Default Serious Handling Issues

I recently (Friday 5.4) got my car out of the body shop. I had got into a wreck a week or so ago which had messed up the back end. I also had run over the remnents semi truck tire (seperate incident) a few weeks before that. Well my insurance company said I could file two claims and they would fix both ends (front & rear). The front needed a new front bumper, radiator, new passenger front tire, new passenger front rim, and a few other plastic parts underneath. The only real thing they replaced on the rear was my rear passenger tire. They also did a 4 wheel alignment on the car.

My insurance is progressive, and it just so happens that the progressive service center I went too had it's own body shop. I assume they did all the work in that shop. Well I get my car back on Friday, and it looks great visually. I was kinda amazed at the body work (I will be investigating further this afternoon).

THe handling of the car is a completely different story. It just so happened that I was going out of town yesterday to visit my folks (about a 4 hour drive). It is mostly interstate driving. Well first thing is first, the car pulls bad to the left on interstate driving. Second, I had to down shift on the interstate, my car swerved violently to the left then back to the right. I thought I was losing control of the car. I had never felt that before when downshifting. Third, when I get on it, the car pulls violently to the right. I had made it to a back road, and decided to get on it to see how the car handled under acceleration. The car pulled to the right over two lanes before I could get out of the first. I never felt comfortable driving the car on the interstate. It was all over the road. This car feels completely different after I took it too the shop.

Now I know the LSD should prevent any torque steer. My question is will having two brand new right side tires affect how the car is handling? My two left side tires have around 12k miles on them. I just think its kind of odd the car pulls to the right under hard accel and pulls to the left when declerating.

Sorry for the long drawn out thread...just wanted to inform you of most of this instead of just coming out and asking the question. I plan on taking it back to have them look at it. Just was looking for some advice as to why the car is handling in such a poor manner.

Thanks!

well, no, the helio LSD is going to help with corners, and not that much with torque steer.

This could very well cause the car to pull to a side. The new tires should be put on the front of the car.

The violent steering issues point more to suspension problems. I would take a look to see if things like tie, sway and various joints are in proper condidtion. If you are really switching 2 lanes without control, even a novice should be able to see the damage.

Thanks!</TD></TR></TABLE>

Yes!! Move the new one on the front to the otherside on the rear. If you continue to have the pulling problem have the alignment checked out. Beyond that it may be a more complicated problem.

put the better tires up front because its a front wheel drive car. This problem came up in one of the older civic sections and it was something to do with the suspension. You may have broke something that they didnt catch when repairing your car. I dont remember exactly what it was, so i dont wanna throw u in the wrong direction, but have every suspension component checked out on the car.
