Weird noise comming from my engine bay
alright yet another problem with the car...
engine: b16a2
my car is making a weird noise (~buzzing sound) when ever i get to about 3200-3500rpms on every gear without fail... i replaced all the gaskets, from the headers to the cat, head-headers
checked my headers for any holes, couldn't find any.
made sure all bolts were tight.
spent a whole day trying to figure out where the sound was coming from, guessing its somewhere around the headers, in the engine bay.
i am fresh out of ideas...
its driving me nuts having my car sound like a fart can
PLS HELP~!!

unless u dont have a four cylinder engine.. you only have one header..
not headers...
but back on to the topic..
have an assistant plug the exhaust pipe with a rag or something of the sort and listen for the leak.. should be able to do it at idle once the pressure rises from the clog..
that will help you locate the leak

Also check the heatshields on the exhaust pipe and cat.
Might be the exhaust hitting up against the car.
Could also be a waterpump, heard them sound funny too.

Just rev the car, and listen where it is coming from. Once you have an idea if it's the head, the bottom end, the exhaust, the tranny, then you put a board on the possible culprit and put your ear on the end of the board (it works like a stethascope). The weird vibrations off the noisey thing get transfered through the board, to your ear, and you'll find out what is up. This is a great way to figure out which accessory is whining when one of the bearings on one of them goes out. I use this method ALL the time when diagnosing a problem.

okay so i found out that it was the 'exhaust manifold' i just rev'd the motor to 31-35 and held down the headers and the noise disappeared... maybe resonating? so at the moment i just have something holding the headers and no more fart can sound. i wouldn't say problem solved but a quick fix for now while i take care of more important things on the list of things to do for my car.
thanks again for all the help~!
