I've heard good things about Silverstars.

I'd suggest the Philips Vision Plus.

No, but unfortunately the X-treme Power is currently only available in a limited selection of (European) bulb types, and the 9006 isn't one of them. The Vision Plus has recently been made available in the US and is offered in a wider variety, including 9006.

Good point, as the shipping time is ridiculous from Germany I hear.

I've been happy with my bluevision, light blue tint and much better than OE. My extremes are still in the box.

They're Dot compliant.

I bet their website has the DOT information. Just a guess though.

Beware of bright bulb durability.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Dogginator &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

My SilverStars lasted only 10 months. They are a ripoff. Look at the lifetime on Sylvania's site:

XtraVision 9006 bulb is rates at 850 hours. (XtraVision)
SiverStar 9006 bulb is rated at only 150 hours. (SilverStar)

The XtraVision will last between 5 and 6 times longer than the SilverStars. SilverStars are crap.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Both the XtraVision and Vision Plus are good choices, though the Vision Plus should likely have a slight edge in overall performance. I haven't seen any rated life figures for the Vision Plus, but generally you can expect some degree of reduced life-span as the performance and output of the bulb increases. This is simply due to the manner in which the increased output is achieved, and it's difficult to avoid unless some sort of improved technology is being employed. That being said, the 85% reduction in rated life for the DOT-spec SilverStars is certainly not a worthy compromise.

It's 3:00 in the afternoon. There should be some improvement over the stock bulbs, but it is certainly not going to be dramatic.

I know bulbs are good for DOT and stuff, but 4300K or 5000K HID's would be nice.

4300K is white in color, unless I'm wrong, I dunno.

Well, they really won't be any "whiter" since they're still un-coated bulbs. There should be a marginal improvement in intensity, but again, it will not be dramatic.
