Soon to be rider, bike recommendations, pricing?
I have been researching getting a small street bike for a while now, and have decided to listen to everyone and go with the Kawasaki Ninja 250cc as my starter. I am looking for a pretty cheap one, and want to know what kind of ranges I am looking at? Early 90's w/ some plastic look good to me, and don't seem to expensive. How much does the motorcycle safety class run, and how much is the license and gear? I'm looking to sell some stuff off my CRX in order to pay for the bike, and don't want to go over like $1500. Can this be done, or am I living in a dream world?

dont skimp on the helmet, spend 300-400 dollars on one.. a light one that is safe.. the "free" one they give you for 100dollars wont last you 1 week and wont protect worth a ****... i paid like 350 for mine...
full leathers, head to toe-- your skin will love you for life...
leather gloves... nothing like being able to pickup a coffee mug with a hook becuase your hands got ground off on the pavement
did i leave anythign out??

Thanks Jake. What kind of prices am I looking for a full leather suit? I'm planning on just riding it around town right now, so is a leather jacket/long pants good for a while until I can afford the pants/shoes? The gloves are a must, and I will make sure the helmet I get it good. How hard is the license to get, and what is involved (Driving course?)

Hey...my Bieffe only cost me 100 bucks, and it saved my life. I high-sided my katana going about 35, and the only thing that happened to me was a scratch on my hip from my keys. I bought that helmet at 8:00 in the morning, and wrecked at 11:00. Oh well....
Save your money, buy the bike and ALL the gear at the same time. I have two rash spots on my *** about the size of the palm of your hand from roadrash. If you dont get a leather suit, at least get a jacket and a set of draggin jeans (they are lined with kevlar in the wear spots)
check out syed leathers in orlando for a full suit. http://www.syedleathers.com
Also dont go cheap on the foot protection. I had a set of goretex timberlands, very heavy duty, two layer leather. The footpeg stabbed through it and ripped my foot apart. The doc said thank god for the heavy boots or my foot would have been crushed into a million pieces.
I am getting a new complete suit with all inserts, boots with the kevlar inserts and a backbrace. I have gone through it once, i hope you dont have to go through it cause it is painful as hell.

I spent about 500 on full leather suit.. and as far as jacket and pants for "just riding around".. i dont even do that. i take my full leathers with me... my skin is precious to me.. and i like it... we are sorta attached to each other...
take the driving coarse with the ama, it's easier than taking the dmv driver coarse... then all you ahve to do is take the dmv written test...
im me if you have any questions..
