Tokico HP = OEM shock replacement
AGX = budget adjustable shock
Tokico Illumina = better adjustable shock
Koni Sport = most ballAr commercially available adjustable shock

couldn't comment on other brands but I love my tockico blues, and honestly if you are not an avid track person I don't think you'll need to be adjsuting your shocks too much... my brother got a set of adjustable agx's and I have yet to see him adjust them once, so I just went w/nonadjustables and saved some cash

I adjust my Konis all the time, and I never autox my car anymore. For one thing the adjustable rebound can help compensate for wear (I have 150,000 miles on my Koni shocks). And if you feel like driving around some tight curvy roads you can turn them up, or for a long road trip you can turn them back down.

You can get illuminas and a good spring set for a little more than that.

best part about adjustables.
most non-adjustables are designed as oem replacements or something slightly better.
