Default Gauge mounting ideas.....

i searched, theres been a few in the past, alot of them are pretty old.

I want to get some feedback from people who mounted their gauges off the pillar. Also if you can state how visability is? Thanks.

Any really creative mountings out there?

on the pillar the visibility is fine.. I've been inside a turbo eg and you can see (he has) all 3 gauges fine. You can custom fit gauges around your radio/cd player area.. I know a few ppl that will do it for some $$ on H-T.com

I am really happy with the autometer 3-gauge pod that mounts on the dash.
see previous post for installed pic..

1 for the tach, 1 for the oil pressure and 1 for the oil temp.

THe way it mounts REALLY SUCKS..

I ended up screwing it directly into the dash...

but I like it

Im guessing from the pic in your avatar that you have a CX hatch?...

If thats the case, you can mount them where the passenger airbag would be. My friend has them mounted there in his hatch, and it actually looks pretty sweet.

Im not too sure how well he can see them all though

First of all, its not a "gauge pod" that goes across/on his dash. They are mounted IN the dash...

And second of all...behind the seat and on/across/in the dash are a LITTLE different....just a tad. You can still see them, but its not like right up on you like a triple gauge pod across the pillar would be.

i was talking about this...

ya im sure you can SEE them if there put directly into the dash where the airbag was, but its pretty out of the way for my taste. although they look pretty cool mounted there i think.

hmm i need to sit in my car for a while.

This is how my ek is setup...yes, its kinda artsy-fartsy, but you get the idea
Visibility is great, its no different than if I wanted to check the time.
Also...its a lot better looking than silly pillar pods

You could do the same, if you moved your radio to another din (as with the optional audio console, for example)

Btw sorry to hijack your thread but I am curious to know too about other creative idea others have!
