Default FS: 2001 Type-R B18C5 swap in a 96 Civic EX - $3000 - SOLD

Sold June 10, 2007. Thanks for all the interest.

Great donor car for a B18C5 swap into another Civic. The car itself is not street worthy but the engine cranks right up and you can drive it up and down the driveway. The car has many usable parts. The right rear upper control arm is hanging on by one bolt and the right rear wheel bearing needs replaced.

$3800 OBO, NOVA, No swaps

Price Drop: $3000 firm for anyone who shows up with a trailer and cash today (June 7, 2007) or tomorrow morning. Extra charge if I deliver. If no takers, I'm pulling the engine, selling whatever other parts I can, then taking the rest to the dump.

Details:

2001 USDM Type-R B18C5
JDM Type-R ECU
Type-R Tranny w/Helical LSD
GSR exhaust manifold, APEXi WS2 stainless cat-back exhaust.
Power windows, locks, and sunroof, 118,000 miles on car, don't know about the engine.
Tokico Coilover shocks with Skunk lowering springs (lowered 2").
15x6.5 Buddy Club Rims
Runs Mobil One in the motor and tranny, new starter
Body has some front and rear collision damage, not very noticible from the pictures but there is bent metal underneath the plastic.
Interior is intact except for passenger kick panel.

I bought this car to swap the B18C5 into my EK but decided not to take the project on right now and my buddy is bugging me to get the car out of his yard. I've seen B18C5's for sale for $4500 without a car and without you being able to crank it up and hear it run first. I'm only asking $3800 and I'll trailer it anywhere in Northern VA. I might be persuaded to go into MD a few miles.

Right rear upper control arm mount is hosed.

Hood is kindof messed up

Shows 118K miles here. I don't know how many miles are on the engine.

Pictures of the engine coming soon.

This car's parked in my front yard and I'm not sure my buddy wants me posting here but, it does have a clean title.

I'm supposed to be getting him engine pictures today so, he can post them up. That's my trailer it's sitting on.

Yes, clean title. I have no details about the engine swap. I bought it from a guy who's son was driving it and had the mods done. The son was off in the military somewhere and told his dad to just sell it. I'll put pics of the engine bay up as soon as my buddy gets a chance to take some.

Nah, not interested in trading. I wouldn't recommend trying to put it back on the road unless you are *very* familiar with Honda's and are willing to go over this thing with a fine toothed comb.

Wow, I forgot that Firefox was blocking popups so I had like 5 PM's waiting for me. My apologies to people who PM'd me days ago about this. I've got someone coming out tomorrow to take a look. Hold off on the PM's until Tuesday evening 5/8/07 and I'll report back if it doesn't go.

besides replacing the UCA and wheel bearing what would this need to get on the street? is the frame bent up beyond repair?

I really don't know. I bought it for the engine and haven't driven it more than up and down the driveway and on and off the trailer. I don't see massive damage that would cause a bent frame but where the bumper attaches to the front frame rail is pretty messed up. It would need some new metal welded in to make that right.

The guys who looked at it today were looking for a clean shell to put on the road. As I said before, I don't recommend buying this with the intention of putting the car on the road unless you know civics inside and out and know what you are getting into. I am selling this car primarily for the engine, everything else is just gravy. If you just want the engine, I'll consider pulling it for you but the price won't change. At least this way, you can hear it run first.

As promised, here are pics of the engine bay and one of the interior.

I have an offer but it is less than I want. If nobody else beats it by this weekend, I'll have to consider it.

The engine just amazes me. It sat for a month and it cranked right up when I was showing it to a couple of guys who came out last weekend. I was told that the guy who had it before was a fanatic on maintenance and kept Mobile 1 in it. This is a steal for someone looking for a real Type-R swap.

Well, no takers yet. I'm willing to drop the price some. How about $3500? Anyone?

I still have the car. Guy who made the low offer hasn't gotten back to me yet. Current price is $3500 and I'll deliver it anywhere in Northern VA or close by. If you can come pick it up yourself, I'll consider a lower price.

Yeah, I figured it would've sold by now. Wish I had the time to drop it into my '96 hatch like I originally planned. A 200hp engine in my 2300lb hatch would be fun.

Nah, not interested in parting it out, even just the wheels.
