Feels like the tranny grinds for 1st to 2nd and to 3rd
Well i just got a 05 Silver s2000 maybe a week ago. It only has 6800 miles on it. People tell me s2000 tranny click into gear, which make you feel something when you shift.
But here is my question. When shifting at low RPM's around 2.5K or 3K from 1st to 2nd i sometimes feel as if the tranny is grinding is this normal ? Once i shift it into 3rd it kinda of feels the same way, but not as much.
It does not do this all the time, but most of the time. Down shifting it feels very smooth so i am not to sure what is wrong.
Do you think i need to change the tranny fluid already or is this normal for all s2k's...
I did a search, but didnt find the infomation i wanted.
Can someone please help me out ?
I am coming from a 2001 Integra Type R so the tranny on the s2000 feels very werid to me, but i am loving the car so far.

i have no problem with grinds at high rpm's it shifts like butter, but it seems to grind ( or feels like a grind ) when i put it in 2nd at low rpm's sometimes .. I think i may have to change my tranny fliud, but the car has only 6800 miles so i dont think that is the problem. What is the due date for the tranny fliud ?

So, I noticed this same thing on my 07, after I had it for a few months. I talked to a friend that is a Honda Technician, and he said he's its different than a B, more direct. I also noticed that I had aquired a bad driving habit in my Civic of not pushing the clutch all the way down before shifting. The shifting in the civic feels smoother, but S2000 is more notchy. Make sure you're modulating the clutch right, and get the timing down right, and I think you'll be OK. After 4k miles in my 07, I know I have improved the way I shift and it doesn't do that any longer.

your saying its like this all the time or just cold???
these cars have a notchy tranny from the OE.... always like that.. more when cold... but your driving style can play a big part with it...
shifts are a lot smoother once warmed up say after a highway/freeway trip goign thru them is like nothing compared to when cold or light city driving

even after i changed my fluids (tranny and diff) it felt a little bit better at first but still noticable at low rpm. i just changed my driving habits and started shifting at much higher rpm....i would say my shift from 1-2 happens somewhere at 18-20 mph and 2-3 around 27+ mph.
