Default Some hints/help at the engine rebuild

i have an eg6 b16a2 hatch and i want to put some new piston ring set, seat valve adjustment and all that's necessary when i will open it.

i was thinking to polish ( with a small diameter sandpaper ) the intake mainfold, the head, the sewer valves ( sorry maybe it's not the best word, but i am not english ),the head of the piston and maybe the rod. is that a bad idea ?

any tips or tricks at the engine rebuild in order to pull stronger ?

You really shouldn't take sand paper to the piston, the connecting rods or the valves. You can gasket match/ port the intake and the headfor better flow.
