Think this'll be enough? (exhaust setup pics) ->>
I'm about to put together my exhaust system and my main goal is for it to be AS QUIET AS POSSIBLE. I want it quieter than stock, but I know that won't be happening. The problem is I'm running a 2.0 litre... with 3" piping... a bigass Kamikaze header... it gets worse... and supercharged at ~8 psi. It's going to be nearly impossible to quiet this ****** down at 8k RPMS!
Here is a pic of my proposed setup (plus the misc. mandrel bends). It's a Kamizake header with 2.5" collector, 2 Dynomax bullet 3" resonators, and a 3" ES Oval muffler on the end.

I'm afraid that this is not going to be enough. If this car is too loud I'm going to be seriously pissed off to the point where I wouldn't want to drive it. Should I spend the extra money (~$200) and hassel to try to make a dual exhaust system? I think having another 3" ES Oval on the end would help a lot. Or would it? Does anyone know if dual exhausts are significantly quieter?
Does anyone have any other suggestions I could try to quiet the exhaust down? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I think thats all you can do to keep it quiet. Those collector/resonators work pretty good at quieting it down though. You should be good

I think its hilarious how everyone want quiet exhaust with forced induction.
Man, try running open wastegate on a turbo. Now thats some loud ****. I cant hear anything when it opens, my radio goes from blaring to waahaaabaaaahaaaaaa, pfft.
I think superchargers are quiet, even through 3" throughout.
Sorry, just tired of seeing these posts. I mean, does everyone live in a retirement home community??

But seriously, do you think any of us would have bought a Honda if we knew what we were getting into?
I want more speed dammit! But I don't want to fly around town in a buzzing tin can horn, especially when a lady is in the car.
I'm doing the best I can here....PreludeRCR: So do you think having a cat would quiet it down enough to justify the cost ($140)? Doesn't it essentialy act like a resonator, which I already have 2 of?
I say **** it be loud be heard be fast
My friend just installed a b18b with crower cams, for an exhuast he has dc headers, testpipe, 2.25in piping with no resinator to a fireball muffler and its loud as ****.

What r u running again, cuz a friend of mine is running a jrsc on his b18c1 and he has a thermal r&d exhaust with two resonators and it's still louder than ****!!!

That should actually be reasonably quiet overall, I believe it will sound good and mellow, not very loud.
My 0.2.

FWIW when I go turbo, I'm going with a 3" DP, 3" Carsound cat, one 3" Magnaflow resonator, and proabably just an average Magnaflow(or similar) 3" muffler. It should end up being relatively pleasant and deep I expect.

for quietness i would of just attempted some kind of dual stock accord exhaust, but that i am sure is hard to come by. i think it should be pretty quite, and i think having a cat would also make it quiter. also having bends in your pipe will make it even quiter. i would first save your 140 for the cat and try it out like it is. cant be that hard to just weld in a cat, just make room for it!
edit:
if you would of went turbo it would of been quite enough just having strait pipes not muffler or cat, except for an open wg

if you would of went turbo...

You H-T guys! Normally I would agree with you about going turbo, but my situation is different. The S/C is totally custom, and I'm not supposed to describe all of it just yet...About the dual exhaust, that's what I was thinking. Sticking another ES Oval on the end would help out a lot I would think. But is it worth the cost?? Should I just weld it up like this, and see if I'm happy?

Dammit, it's alittle late for that now, I already have all those parts. A while back I posted whether I should go 2.5" or 3" and it was overwhelming. Like 20 people said 3" even though they knew my full setup. *sigh...
